The picturesque village of Cong, known as the gateway to Connemara, lies between the shores of Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, in beautiful County Mayo. Renowned as the setting for the film, ‘The Quiet Man’, special tours and an abundance of memorabilia are available to commemorate the film. The Market Cross celebrates two former abbots of the Cong Monestary, whilst the remains of the majestic Cong Abbey, founded in the 12th century by Turlogh O'Connor, King of Connaught and the High King of Ireland, are worth a visit. Nearby Ashford Castle, described as the most dramatic castle in Ireland, offers visitors a choice of fine dining opportunities amid pristine period décor, together with a superb, 18 hole golf course. Affectionately known as the “City of Festivals”, the small city of Galway, with its pretty alleyways and colourful nightlife is within easy touring distance. A wonderful base for an all year round holiday.

The Property

Copper Olive Cottage is a traditional style semi-detached bungalow, located in a quiet spot on the fringes of the village of Cong, in County Mayo. The property has a welcoming feel with some charming character features, including a beamed ceiling and open fire in the sitting room. The property also benefits from having its own sauna, ideal for relaxing in after a busy day of sightseeing, while good fishing is available on the nearby lakes. Outside, the property has a delightful lawned garden and rear patio area, ideal for a spot of al fresco dining. The pretty village centre is only a 5 minute walk away and achieved fame as the setting for the John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara movie, 'The Quiet Man'. The magnificent Ashford Castle is also within easy walking distance, offering fine dining, fascinating tours and an 18 hole golf course.

All ground floor. Three bedrooms: 2 x double, 1 x twin. Bathroom with bath, separate shower cubicle, basin and WC. Sauna with adjacent shower cubicle. Separate WC and basin. Fitted kitchen with breakfast table. Sitting room with dining table and open fire.
