The traditional village of Clonbur is located between Lough Mask and Lough Corrib in County Galway. Offering a small selection of shops and pubs, it retains a distinctly Irish feel with its own unique character and charm. There are a number of places of interest to the visitor in the surrounding area, including Ross Hill Abbey, Ballykine Castle Lough Corrib and Lough Coolin. For walkers and hikers, the imposing Mount Gable offers one of Ireland’s most scenic mountain walks, with the trail beginning less than 2 miles from Clonbur. The nearby village of Cong is well worth a visit and is famed as the setting for the John Wayne movie, ‘The Quiet Man’. It is also home to Ashford Castle with its magnificent architecture, fine dining and sprawling golf course. Clonbur makes an ideal base for exploring other attractions in the area such as Galway City, the Connemara National Park and Clew Bay to the north.

Lough Corrib is the second largest lake in Ireland, so take the time to enjoy a cruise or visit the small town of Oughterard, which is the main angling centre for the Lough.
