For day trips, the stunning Mayo coastline can be easily reached in half an hour, and a visit to the world-famous Connemara National Park, with its breathtaking walks and amazing scenery, makes for an unforgettable day trip.

Ballinrobe 5 miles. This delightful, single-storey cottage is situated on the shores of Lough Mask, just 5 miles from Ballinrobe, County Mayo. With open plan living and fantastic views, this Ballinrobe cottage is a great base for those who want to come and make the most of this lovely area, while fishermen can delight in their surroundings. Hire a boat and an engine and enjoy trout, pike and perch fishing on Lough Mask, or if you're a little less experienced, you can hire a boat and a fishing guide direct with the owner, and maybe even catch something delicious for your dinner. Unwind in the garden of your Ballinrobe cottage making the most of the views of Tourmakeady Mountains, while dining on your supper of fish from the lough, relaxing and enjoying the evening air, while deciding what to do tomorrow. Just 6 miles from this Ballinrobe cottage, the picturesque village of Cong is known at the 'Gateway to Connemara', while Ashford Castle, also 6 miles, is well worth a visit.
