  • "This property needs to either have a light or a sign post."

Finding it in the dark was near impossible. We had to get out of our cars after an hour of searching up the same road and use our phone torches. It is not visible in the dark at all. It is very unmissable in the day light and the lady I rang seemed confused as to why I couldn’t find it. I’m wondering if she’s ever been at night when there’s no lights on. That is the only downside. Now we know where it is, we have actually booked to go again. Maybe a blue light would be helpful so then the instructions can say ‘it will have a blue light on’ for example. May help. The lodge itself is great, a decent size for the whole family to enjoy. Couch is a little uncomfortable mind, but the beds were ok.

  • "Loved the property and its surroundings, it suited us being in the middle of countryside but may not suit everyone."

Think it would be best to tell people more about the location. We also found it really cold the first 24 hours. As the booking was winter time I would of hoped that the heating would of been on to make the cabin cosy and warm on arrival, however it wasn’t and it took over 24 hours for it to warm through. Also it’s advertised with a log burner but is no good if there are no logs to use! Had to phone and ask and again didn’t come until the next morning! Had to purchase more kindling too.

  • "Our second time staying at pines pitch, we loved it just as much as we did the first time."

I definitely wouldn't recommend for people that don't have their own vehicle as shops and town are quite a distance from the cabin.

Taxi driver charged us £100 return to go to Knighton and back and we didn’t have much other choice as everywhere else no availability. Found this crazy as it’s at 25 min round trip! Cabin was amazing and comfortable. Thanks

  • "What a wonderful week we have had whilst staying at Pine Lodge."

A lovely log cabin in beautiful tranquil surroundings. The property was spotlessly clean throughout. The beds were very comfortable with really good quality linen too. The only issue we had was the downstairs shower wasn't ideal for myself, being disabled it was difficult to climb into and get out again. The toilet seat was also very loose. Upstairs was a wet room which would have been perfect to have downstairs for disabled users. However we managed and still had a wonderful week and now feeling very relaxed.

  • "Really good property, beautiful quiet location."

Great walking nearby. Enclosed garden is secure for your average dog, but our Scottish Terrier thinks he's Houdini so made it his mission to find the smallest gap he could escape through. For larger dogs and less adventurous ones no issue. After his second escape we kept him on a long training lead and had no issues. The other three were just happy to mooch around. The lodge is in a dark skies area, so on a clear night you are treated to a stunning display, so many stars.

Really spacious. There were 3 of us but it would accommodate 6 easily. When I booked it I thought I'd booked an accessible cottage. It does have a downstairs bedroom and bathroom but it's not really accessible, The outside area is huge , lots of garden furniture and the hot tub. At night you can hear the owls and other wildlife. Just wonderful.

Despite a few imperfections we would still like to come over again and recommend for others. What we had missed: no hot water on the ground floor shower, no wood logs for fireplace, as well someone came over to trim the grass in the morning while we were still sleeping and resting.

Some really nice touches throughout the lodge. Kitchen had from one extreme to the other… cake baking and icing kits but no decent knives. Loved the aga and stove was very easy to light and belted the heat out. Couch was very uncomfortable and not enough seating in living room should you be a party of 6. Loved that they take up to 4 dogs! And loved that the floors were wooden and easily cleaned… no worries about mucky paws! Some cleaning products would encourage people to mop up! Beds comfortable and lodge very warm considering we visited in November. Would definitely return :-)

  • "Lovely spacious cottage in the beautiful countryside surroundings."

We truly enjoyed our stay. Just a little details which could be improved on and already mentioned by other guests: falling apart blunt knives, uncomfortable sofas for 4 people only (while cottage accommodates 6), no temperature adjustment on hot tub, lack of pans/pots in the kitchen, no cushions on outside rattan sofa (which makes a very uncomfortable sitting). However, these minor things didn't spoil our stay as this place is a real gem in a beautiful secluded countryside location.

  • "Overall we had a lovely stay at Pines Pitch."

The house was spotless and generally well equipped. The quality of furnishing is generally excellent and there is plenty of storage. However, a few extra thoughtful touches would make all the difference and the property could do with some TLC. There is only seating for four in the lounge and as previously mentioned, the sofa is difficult to sit on. One of our party of five adults sat on the floor in preference! The hot tub is a great asset, however we recommend taking your own towels as only one small towel per person is provided and you are asked to shower before using it. The garden is not dog proof and we had to keep ours on leads all week. There are no extra little touches as we have had in previous Sykes properties such as a welcome pack or fresh flowers.

  • "This property is beautiful, private and exactly what we hoped for."

It would have been nice to have some instructions in relation to the fire and aga but luckily a previous resident had left some for the aga. The seating in the living room is not fit for purpose as it is not comfortable for 6 adults and there was an issue with the upstairs bathroom which I did notify the owner of but as we stayed at Christmas we did not expect it to be fixed and we used the other room. That being said the beds were very comfortable and it was clear time and money had gone into the thought process. The garden is not secure for small dogs as I found out but it is lovely. It was superb to be able to sit in the hot tub Christmas day with no other noise around just beautiful scenery. We would definitely go back

Loved loved the hot tub, thank you! The microwave wasn't working all week and I called one of the contact numbers and left a message to let them know. Also there was no can opener so we bought one and left it there for you. The kitchen knives definitely need sharpening! Furniture is lovely and pure quality. We all agreed with one of the guests comments though that the sofa and chair in the lounge are really hard to sit on comfortably. The information on the cabin (hot tub, Aga, bin collections days, where and who to to buy bags of wood from once we used the one left etc and info on the surrounding area could be improved and could definitely do with some information on long walks that you can take dogs on which are accessible on foot from the cabin. Also where are good places to eat locally. Overall we had a lovely time, thank you. We will be back!

However a small welcome pack and touches such as bathrobes and extra large towels would be appropriate when considering how much we paid for the cottage. The hot tub was lovely and the surroundings were idyllic with brook running down the side of the cottage just beautiful. The place was fenced but certainly wasn’t dog secure as our spaniel showed us on more than one occasion. This is a personal thing but the sofas could be more homely and snuggly however the beds were very comfortable. All in all a lovely place in beautiful surroundings which with a homely touch would be so much better.

. we couldn’t believe our look finding such a gem! Beautiful views, gorgeous secluded cottage and large well maintained garden. All of the fixtures and fittings are top quality, and we were left some complimentary welsh cakes on arrival! The fully enclosed garden was great for our 2 young children and 3 large dogs (who the owner accepted no problem and at no extra charge). The play area was another added bonus for the children, and we enjoyed a family dip in the hot tub most days! Lots of lovely places nearby to go for a walk or take the children, the Small breeds farm park and owl centre was a huge hit for us!
