  • "The house was well equipped, warm and cosy amid the most beautiful garden adorned with swathes of snow-drops for our February mini-break."

The kitchen diner was spacious and a focal point for our family gathering and the two dishwashers were well used as you would expect with a party of twelve. There was an instruction folder about all house information kept in the kitchen and email instructions beforehand giving clear information about the house and directions to the property. All were helpful. Lots of footpaths close-by to explore the countryside for the active members of the group. We had a wonderful weekend with our children and grandchildren, all leisure activities were happily tried, tested and enjoyed.

  • "By far the best, most well equipped holiday home in a stunning setting that we have ever stayed in."

Here I found the kitchen of my dreams. The grounds and outdoor facilities were beautiful. We were sad to leave. A few minor niggles: more teaspoons, some larger, flatter pudding/pasta bowls, a mirror over the washbasin in the family bathroom and magnified shaving mirrors in all bathrooms would be greatly appreciated. Some toys in situ for small children would have made our stay perfect. Pat

  • "This was a well-equipped house set amid beautiful gardens."

The sauna and hot tub were well-used and enjoyed. The table-tennis and football tables were popular with the youngsters (and the young at heart). The open-plan kitchen diner was the hub of the house and the massive lounge was a great place in which to relax in the evening. There were very few negatives in relation to this impressive holiday house. The bed in the large en suite bedroom was uncomfortable. Televisions in bedrooms would have added to the luxury. A mirror opposite the drive would have made exiting the property by car safer.

  • "The owner was very accommodating as were were arranging a big 70th birthday."

The facilities were great and the caterers loved the kitchen with the large range ovens. The garden were immaculate and the dogs loved running in the big fields beside the house. It was perfect for our family get together and we would highly recommend it anyone looking for a large house to rent. The hot tub was joyous and there were plenty of plastic glasses supplied to be used there!

  • "Probably the most helpful owner I've worked with in many bookings."

The House is well equipped, well maintained and the grounds (including a meadow) are a delight. Little or nothing to fault and a great base for the area and Hay Festival.

  • "We had a great week."

The kitchen facilities suited us really well and lots of great food was cooked, served and eaten. We loved the sauna and the hot tub: we had no reservations about the hot tub as someone came to check it for us every day. We easily found great walking in the area - looking back towards the Old Vicarage from the top of the Black Mountains was the highlight. We ate one night at the bridge at Michaelchurch Escely - as recommended by the owners and by the Sunday Times - lovely food etc. We recommend the Old Vicarage to anyone who wants to spent time in this beautiful area.

  • "This is a very well placed house for getting around the Ross On Wye area."

10 miles from Hay on Wye which is also brilliant. The house itself is wonderful. Everything has been thought of and very clear instructions provided for everything. Large and very clean rooms, plenty of space for everybody. Lovely decoration throughout. Plenty of parking for all. 3 fridges!! Amazing. Great cooking facilities with all utensils provided and the dishwasher - thank goodness. The house is plenty warm enough with clear instructions how to change it if not. Spacious bedrooms - and 4 bathrooms including 2 ensuites. There are some lovely pubs in the area with one being about 3 minutes away on the same road - the Mill which is excellent. A lovely family get together in a beautiful house. Thank you.

PETERCHURCH

Hay-on-Wye 10 miles; Hereford 12 miles.

The village of Peterchurch, with its handful of pubs and restaurants, is situated on the River Dore in the beautiful Golden Valley, flanked by the Black Mountains to the west and gentle hills to the east. Just 10 miles away is the wonderful market town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its 30-plus book shops, excellent pubs, restaurants and antique shops, making it one of the most visited tourist attractions in Wales. Surrounded by pastureland and woodland, covered in primroses, violets, celandine and bluebells during spring, the village is also close to the Offa's Dyke and Wye Valley walks. The epitome of picturesque England, the ancient city of Hereford lies 12 miles away and dates back to the 7th Century, boasting a magnificent cathedral, the famous 'chained library', and a medieval bridge over the winding River Wye.
