The scattered village of Byford lies on the banks of the River Wye on the edge of the beautiful Golden Valley. The village is ideally located in unspoilt Herefordshire countryside between Hay-on-Wye and Hereford, with an extensive range of footpaths including the Wye Valley Walk and Offa's Dyke footpath. The magnificent Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park are also a short drive away. Within easy reach is the ancient city of Hereford with its magnificent cathedral displaying the famous Mappa Mundi world map and an impressive chained library, and its beautiful medieval bridge spanning the River Wye. The town of books, Hay-on-Wye, famous for its 30 plus book shops, charming pubs, antique shops, restaurants and cafes is also an easy drive away, and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Wales. A little further afield guests can enjoy the fine restaurants, food and antique shops on offer in Ludlow, the many activities in the Forest of Dean and the delightful historic market towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth.
