Madley is ideally situated in unspoilt Herefordshire countryside between the 'town of books' Hay-on-Wye, and the cathedral city of Hereford. Madley offers an extensive network of footpaths with superb views, and is close to the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Black Mountains. The ancient city of Hereford is just 7 miles away, dating back to Saxon times and boasting a beautiful cathedral with 'chained library', home to a collection of rare books, the Mappa Mundi world map and a magnificent medieval bridge crossing the River Wye. The wonderful market town of Hay-on-Wye, one of the most visited tourist attractions in Wales, is home to 30-plus book shops, excellent pubs, antique shops and restaurants. Peaceful Cottage is a lovely place to stay. We were here for a week
with two children aged 3 and 5. They had a great time. The garden is
large and safe as it's completely fenced in. There's a climbing frame
and slide and the cat from next door kept the kids very happy. Beautiful orchard in the adjacent field for a short stroll. Very warm central heating and there's a log burning stove also. Thoroughly recommended.
