Freshwater village 1.2 miles.
A wonderful detached holiday home, only a few minutes’ walk from the beautiful chalk cliffs and clear waters of Freshwater Bay, close to the stunning Tennyson Downs, on the west coast of the Isle of Wight.
After parking your car in the secure large gravelled area, give yourself time to marvel at the spectacular scenery of the dramatic coastline.
You enter Poets Corner via the side door that leads you straight into a large light entrance area with a utility room to your left.
A door is to your right and takes you into a hallway, with cloakroom facilities on your left and the snug room straight ahead containing a Smart TV, USB charging points with multi-charging cable, and a wide selection of games.
Also from the hallway is a well-equipped kitchen with a dual fuel range cooker and combination microwave oven, and then to a sitting room with dining area.
Wonderful views can be seen from the many windows in the sitting room, and this room also has a gas fire and a large flat screen TV, where you can relax and watch a movie on demand at the end of a busy day.
On a sunny day, why not open the French doors that lead out onto the garden, and musicians in your party will enjoy playing a tune or two on the baby grand piano.
Upstairs the beautiful landscape becomes more prominent with views from all of the four bedrooms, with one of the rooms having the convenience of en-suite facilities.
The south-facing lawned garden with table and chairs is a delight to unwind in, maybe with a meal cooked on the charcoal barbecue and a refreshing drink in hand.
Mainly sandy with a covering of chalk, Freshwater Bay is a small cove on the south coast of the island, surrounded by steep chalk cliffs.
Take a walk to the top of Tennyson Down visiting the huge granite cross commemorating the life of Alfred Lord Tennyson on the way, and then onto the magnificent Needles lighthouse which is well worth seeing.
Poets Corner is a must for a family or group of friends looking for an Isle of Wight retreat.

Freshwater is situated at the western tip of the Isle of Wight and consists of Freshwater Village and Freshwater Bay. Freshwater village offers a good selection of small independent shops, cafes and the West Wight Sports Centre and Indoor Swimming Pool. The magnificent high chalk cliffs, rolling downs and delightful beaches at Freshwater Bay and nearby Compton Bay attract many visitors and surfers all year round. The renowned Freshwater Bay Golf Club, which overlooks the English Channel has stunning coastal sea views from most tees and offers a superb day out for golfers of all abilities, whilst the area is a haven for birdwatchers, cyclists and walkers with many wonderful walks to be enjoyed not only on West Wight but across the entire Isle of Wight criss-crossing over a much varied island landscape. Locally, Afton Down (the location of the famous 1970 Isle of Wight Music Festival), and Tennyson Down are the most popular walks. At the foot of Tennyson Down is the Dimbola Museum and Photographic Galleries. The Needles Pleasure Park at Alum Bay with its coloured sand cliffs and chairlift to the beach is just south west of Freshwater, plus a little further afield on the north coast of the Isle of Wight is the premier yachting centre of Cowes. Osborne House (the former home of Queen Victoria) is located at East Cowes. The nearby Farringford Hotel on the edge of Freshwater Bay was once the home of the British Poet Laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and many notable poets, authors and painters have been attracted to the area of West Wight over the years. With the seaside town of Yarmouth close by with its busy harbour and pier, shops, inns, eateries and impressive Tudor castle, this is an ideal base for an enjoyable holiday.
