Island Stone Cottages

Both cottages have one bedroom and offer comfortable, well equipped accommodation, along with private patio areas with table and chairss. The cottages are within easy walking distance of the two pubs in Niton and the excellent selection of shops, while the attractive seaside resort of Ventnor, with its lovely beaches and botanical gardens, is just four miles away. • “We were greeted by the friendly owner who made us very welcome and gave us lots of useful information. The cottage is charming (exactly as described on the website) and ideal for a week's escape from the city. We loved the quaint, traditional aspects and the quirky staircase to the bedroom. We had amazing weather and it was lovely to return after a day out to a sundowner in the garden. The location was great for exploring the island by car, but also a good base for walks on the island, where we enjoyed the countryside. We enjoyed visits to all the English Heritage properties and particularly recommend a visit to Osborne House. We also enjoyed the Botanical Gardens at nearby Ventnor.”

    • “A relaxing charming cottage”

    • “The cottage was lovely with everything needed for a chilled out relaxig week. The location gave lots of options for travel around the island. We tended to head west most days towards the southern beaches. the owners were very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive with nice little touches adding value to an already great value holiday. Very clean and relaxing. Parking was good and on site although sometimes getting out on the lane was difficult with people parking opposite. The spiral stairs to the charming bedroom was a challenge initially but fun to negotiate. The well stocked local supermarket was only 150 yards away and the local newsagent another 50 yards. There was no need to waste time going to any other supermarket. No immediately close beach but coastal walks were nearby and the lighthouse within striking distance. We were blessed with great weather throughout. The cottage was so relaxing it was hard to get going some mornings. This made it hard to get parking near the beach in Shanklin. The Ventnor Botanical gardens were great and there is a lovely beach within a 1 mile walk of the gardens - Ventnor's worse kept secret. A really pleasant holiday and the owners were lovely. Recommended.”

    • “Perfect part of the Island to stay”

    • “When we arrived the owner was very welcoming and gave us lots of useful information to help us make the most from our week. The home was all we needed for our week although you must be able to cope with the short flight of stairs to the bedroom We thought this part of the Island for us was perfect in that it gave us the type of walking we like yet with bus services within 50yards if we wanted to leave the car behind. There were also good eating facilities at the local pub just a few minutes walk away and the small village supermarket a similar distance. The village itself was very pleasent complete with tea rooms. At the end of our week we only had one small complaint and that was that the last bus back to Niton arrived in the village rather early in the evening .”

    • “Peace and quiet in the land that time forgot.”

    • “The cottage was charming - if a tad cold. It's those thick stone walls you know! Niton wasn't Brighton, but we loved the local friendliness and easy going style. Our host couldn't have been more accomodating and the accomodation was first class (if a tad cold - there was a heater in the lounge though) Would I stay there again? I don't think so. As charming as it was and as accomodating as were our hosts I would probably go for something more modern nearer the sea and not on the Isle of Wight. Been there done it etc. Any reccomendations? Sincerely, Denis Dalby”

    Mrs Newbrook, Portsmouth, May 2015

    • “The cottage is well stocked with everything you might need and the friendly, helpful owners have put a lot of thought into making it a lovely place to stay. From the kitchen window you can watch a variety of birds - and, if you're lucky, red squirrels - at the bird feeders. There's an excellent village store, two pubs, a Post Office with tearoom and other shops, all within a few minutes' walk, as are bus stops for the regular buses to Ventnor and Newport. Highly recommended.”

    Mrs Palmer, Worthing, April 2015
