Just outside the village are many countryside walks, and just a short drive away you will discover the Garlic Farm, the UK’s largest specialist garlic grower, and here you can purchase many delicious produce. The ancient rural village of Arreton, in the centre of the Isle of Wight is situated on the main Newport to Sandown Road. Arreton has predominately been an agriculture community since the medieval days, and remains the largest arable producing area on the island. The village has two inns, consisting of The White Lion, which has been around for two centuries and The Dairyman’s Daughter, which is named after a best-selling book about Elizabeth Wallbridge, a girl from Arreton. Take a glimpse into the past at the Arreton Barns, where you will discover many rural crafts taking place, including leather work, ceramic crafts and lace making.
