Stud Farm Cottages

Bodle Street Green 1.3 miles. These two converted stables are set at the end of a private lane, on the owners' 70 acre working livestock farm, 1.3 miles from the small village of Bodle Street Green, and close to Battle, Bexhill-on-Sea and Hastings. These cottages are spacious and comfortable and are ideal for couples, families and friends looking to stay in a quiet, rural location where the views are glorious. Each cottage has been decorated and furnished keeping the countryside in mind. Although they are both all ground floor accommodation with the Shire Stable being less open plan, each has its own distinct interior layout. What they do share are the fantastic views which cover acres of farmland, meadows and woods, right across to the South Downs, so whether enjoying a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine while sitting on your private patio you can enjoy the fabulous views. Bodle Street Green is a perfect choice for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, whether it’s long walks over the countryside, cycling the leafy lanes of Sussex, birdwatching or discovering flora and fauna, your stay at Stud Farm Cottages will not disappoint! Just a short drive away is the larger village of Herstmonceux, which plays host to thousands of visitors every year. The 15th century castle sits in over 300 acres of grounds and is open to the public between April and October. During the season there are several events and festivals. The main festival covers a whole weekend and includes jousting tournaments, falconry displays, costume parades and even a street market with stalls selling food based on medieval recipes! Within the Herstmonceux grounds there is also a science observatory, which is open to the public from February through to November and is perfect for a family day out whatever the weather. Children of all ages can view the stars through powerful telescopes and discover the universe as they never did before! So after a day of clambering over castles, walking through woodland or seeing the stars in daytime, take yourselves back to Stud Farm Cottages and the warm welcome of home.

About the location

BODLE STREET GREEN

Hertsmonceux 2 miles; Battle 7 miles; Bexhill-on-Sea 10 miles; Hastings 12 miles.

Bodle Street Green is a small village in the heart of rural East Sussex and has a collection of cottages, farms and period manor houses all set in glorious countryside. This beautiful location is perfect for those looking to stay where footpaths and bridleways start straight from their door and historic towns and villages are within a short driving distance. This is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and as soon as you arrive you will see exactly why! The views are breathtaking with farmland, meadows, and woodland all around. While cattle and sheep graze you can walk the footpaths or cycle the lanes and truly breathe in the landscape. Why not pack a picnic, put on those walking boots and enjoy the outdoors as it is meant to be enjoyed? Only a short distance from Bodle Street Green is the larger village of Hertsmonceux. The name comes from the Anglo-Saxon for "Wooded Hills" and Trugs baskets made from split willow boards set in an ash or chestnut frame, are still made by hand in the village. Just outside this quaint village is Herstmonceux Castle and Grounds, a 300 acre estate including woodland, formal themed gardens and of course a 15th century moated castle. The castle and grounds are open to the public from Easter until the end of October, and during the year the castle hosts many events and festivals, as well as being a popular wedding venue. If visiting a castle or two is on your holiday agenda, then this part of East Sussex is certainly for you. With Hastings, Rye and Pevensey all only a short drive away and all with castles to clamber over, and Hastings and Pevensey also having beaches what could be better for a day out? Bodle Street Green may be in a quiet corner of East Sussex, but it's a perfect base for a holiday with a difference.
