Enjoyed the bird life outside by the river, plus the binoculars were very handy . It’s a very well appointed property and minutes from lovely Rye centre , which was great. We also appreciated the fan as it was rather warm. Excellent communication with owner and overall very clear instructions. Couple of points, could you consider a non slip mat in the bath , plus moving the grab rail nearer to the shower. We also wondered about moving the toaster away from the cabinets to the counter top to avoid anything nasty happening . We had a marvellous time and looking forward to returning for another stay. Lovely thought owner leaving wine & beer, very grateful. Impressed with quality of towels and bedding. Plenty of hot water, didn’t need heating & didn’t bother with ‘Alexa’! An oven tray would have been useful but all other utensils etc were provided and of good quality. No loo roll provided at all, we had to buy some, but sure this was an oversight and our only niggle. Spotless throughout, very comfortable, very satisfied and we would def go again!

Loo-roll definitely an oversight, so please accept apologies for that. Your kind comments are very much appreciated, thank you. Please come and see Rye again. Our winter weekend breaks are very reasonably priced. Property Owner

We would like a rubber mat in the bath and in our opinion the handle over the bath should be nearer the shower. Our main problem was Alexa, which wouldn't answer and therefore we could not turn the heating up. Lovely location though and wonderful Juliet balcony to watch the birds.

Thanks for your feedback, especially the bathroom comments. We will look at putting another grab-handle at the shower end and we'll get a rubber mat. Apologies for the difficulties with Alexa, all now fixed and in full working order. We hope the default settings on the heating were OK for you and kept you warm enough, although we understand that you may have liked it a degree or two warmer. Property Owner

. We arrived to find a welcome pack including wine and beer and the informayion folder was one of the best we have seen. Only drawback was the very poor wifi reception and we even struggled with accessing 4G until we went outside. The only other comment I would make is that we would have much preferred a Saturday to Saturday booking. Comfortable accommodation with nice views over the tidal river. In places the property needs some updating and redecoration. The floor boards need attention as there are lots of squeaks and noise from them. The cleaning wasn't quite up to scratch. Drink stains left on the nest of tables, crockery found with dirty marks on (although that would probably be due to the previous occupants rather than the cleaners). They could do with a new vacuum cleaner as there were hairs on the carpet. So the cleanliness let the property down.

The owner left us a bottle of red and a couple of ice cold beers in the fridge, great, after a long drive down. You do need a good torch , as we found out on the first night making our way back to the apartment . We found 2 in the broom cupboard the next day. Plenty of clothes hanging space ,with supplied hangers. We had our own parking space, which is great as parking can be very difficult our friends told us. Wonderful place to stay. I would stay here again. My one and only grouse, some of the floorboards creaked quite loudly, and as we are quiet people ,i felt sorry for the people downstairs, as our apartment was on the first floor. Just a few minor niggles - DVD/CD player was missing (don't think due to the pandemic - we'd been told the DVDs had been removed so we had taken our own) and no electric shaver point in the bathroom. Could have done with a few more mugs and a bigger microwave, and the wi-fi security was rather aggressive, blocking several fairly standard websites. About the location

RYE

Camber 5 miles; Hastings 12 miles; Battle 16 miles.

Rye is a 13th century cinque port in East Sussex, host to the River Rother, Romney Marshes and a history dating back before the Norman Conquest. A cobbled town offering an excellent array of unusual shops, antique emporiums, galleries selling local artist paintings and pottery, Rye also has a delightful range of tea rooms, restaurants, pubs and historic inns. There is also a weekly general market on Thursdays, as well as a farmers’ market every Wednesday morning. The town played host to BBC film crews for nine weeks in the summer of 2014, while filming of the TV series Mapp and Lucia took place, which has now been made into a DVD. All coastal scenes were filmed in nearby Camber Sands and bits of filming also took place in Hastings and the Tenterden Town railway station. Walkers and birdwatchers can enjoy a footpath leading across the marshes to Camber Castle built by Henry VIII. Local attractions include miniature or full-size steam train rides, local vineyards, stately homes, castles, gardens and beaches, including the beautiful nearby Camber Sands. Artists and photographers will especially enjoy the scenery; big skies, winding roads, and picturesque villages with ancient inns and tea shops. A truly relaxing and wonderful holiday destination.
