Set on the sea front in the centre of the historic town of Sandgate is The Eaves, a superb second floor apartment which was featured in the Sunday Mirror’s Top 10 Sea View Staycation Cottages.
With the beach right on your doorstep and all amenities only a few minutes’ walk, this lovely holiday home is set in a early Victorian house which was built for retired gentlemen and is perfect for couples looking to stay somewhere full of charm and character.
Beautifully restored by the owners with care and attention to detail, this apartment runs right across the top floor which gives all of its rooms uninterrupted and fantastic sea views.
The spacious sitting room has quality furnishings and comfortable seating, making it a lovely room to relax in either on colder, blustery days enjoying the warmth of the woodburner with a good book, or on long summer evenings watching the sun set with someone special and a bottle of wine.
From the smaller window in this room guests can see the Martello towers which run along the coastline.
There are two attractive bedrooms in this lovely apartment, the larger master bedroom is furnished in a French chic style and oozes romance, while the cosiness of the smaller double bedroom will have you quickly climbing into bed, quite literally!
What can be nicer than settling down to the sound of the waves on the pebbles?
Cleverly slotted together, the compact bathroom offers the option of either a quick shower using the wet room area or after a busy day exploring this part of Kent, a long hot soak in the bath.
Meals can never be rushed in this self-catering holiday apartment as you will find yourselves enjoying the sea views too much.
The apartment enjoys views of spectacular sunrises and sunsets across the sea; on a clear day France can be glimpsed at sunrise and the whole bay from Sandgate to Dungeness can be seen at sunset.
On sunny days, pack a picnic in the hamper the owner provides, together with the rug and chairs provided and enjoy dining alfresco on the beach.
Outside this apartment lies the traditional coastal town, Sandgate, which is sandwiched between Folkestone and Hythe.
Not only does it have a long pebble bay ideal for watersport lovers and beachcombers, but it is full of tea rooms, pubs, antique shops, restaurants, bistros and a micro pub serving a selection of local beers, ciders and wines.
After long exciting days, and dreamy evenings in Sandgate, stroll back to the welcome of The Eaves and enjoy a holiday to remember.

Sandgate is a coastal village sandwiched between the towns of Folkestone and Hythe. In the 1970s the castle was bought, restored, and made into a private residence and is now a Grade l listed building. Quaint shops, tea rooms and a micro pub make the high street an ideal place to wander and browse while on a relaxing holiday, or for those looking for something more energetic, there are a variety of watersports to enjoy. What could be better than a day on the beach with a picnic while watching the ever changing seascape, relaxing with a good book in the warmth of the sun or beachcombing along the shoreline in search of hidden treasure! Buy fresh fish at the harbour in Folkestone and enjoy a BBQ on the beach as the sun goes down or have a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants that overlook the Channel. If you still have the wanderlust for more adventures, take the ferry or train and in less than an hour you can be having lunch in a French bistro, or enjoying a drink outside a café. Then on your way back pick up some wine and cheese to complete the day! Sandgate, a hidden gem on the Kent coast.
