The en-suite double bedroom at this cottage near Smeeth has an exterior door that leads you out onto the rear garden where you can sit and enjoy breakfast as you plan the day ahead. With paddocks on two sides of the garden, and with pathways down to the lake, this Smeeth cottage provides a superb place to relax. Guests are welcome to enjoy the many facilities on offer at the cottage by prior arrangement with the owner; these include the shared indoor swimming pool, the chance to fish in the well-stocked fishing lake, and horse riding is also available. If you find that long walks through the woods or over fields has given you the feel for country life, then why not try your hand at clay pigeon shooting? Just a couple of miles from this Smeeth cottage is Willesborough Windmill with its craft centre, where you can spend time enjoying afternoon tea. Smeeth is a small quaint village in the heart of Kent offering visitors a warm welcome to the area and a lovely local pub and nearby restaurants serving fresh, local produce. Surrounding the village is beautiful countryside where you may wish to spend time walking or cycling. If getting closer to nature takes your interest then visit the South of England Rare Breeds Centre, which is only 11 miles away and offers all types of farm animals set in over 100 acres of farmland, or alternatively for more exotic animals visit Port Lympne Safari Park or Howletts Zoo. Step back in time and spend a day at Leeds Castle, known as the "loveliest castle in the world", once used by Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon. The castle, which is 20 miles from Smeeth is steeped in history and is set in over 500 acres of parkland, which is why it is now one of the most visited historic places in England. If this castle takes your interest then you may also be interested in visiting the nearby beautiful city of Canterbury with its world famous cathedral and fantastic shopping and dining opportunities. Smeeth with its larger sister village of Brabourne are both located off the A20 and are perfectly situated for visitors wishing to use cross Channel ferries or train links as you can be at the ports of Folkestone or Dover in less than 30 minutes, so a day in France is a possibility. Nearer to home is the Ashford International Station which can take you to the centre of London, and all its amenities, within 40 minutes. If spending time by the sea takes your fancy, then grab your bucket and spade and make for Hythe, only 6 miles away, or taste the oysters in Whitstable, only a short drive, before making your way home to the Kent countryside.
