  • "Lovely big bungalow."

Lovely patio out the back with table and chairs. Beds super comfortable!! Unfortunately the toilet seat was very loose and the shower hose Leaked at the top. The keysafe Was also broken. Would have been nice to have bins in the bedrooms.

  • "Lovely bungalow, clean with a home from home feeling."

Would only suggest for the future to mention there is no onsite parking but ample street parking, might be an ideal to get a nest of tables for the lounge should you be seated at far end on the other 2 sofas and a shower unit to store toiletries within the shower area would be great. Few extra kitchen utensils like scissors and cooking tongs would be welcomed. Bungalow had lovely patio area with great views afar. Owner came up for a chat and to introduce himself, very polite and welcoming. We will certainly be booking again next year. Property very clean. Thanks

  • "The cottage is clean, bright and spacious in a very quiet village with west-facing views from the rear and patio across miles of open countryside which afforded us many gorgeous sunsets over the Solway Firth in the distance."

Its remote location is ideal for peace and quiet whilst still offering easy and relatively short drives to many lovely places such as Cockermouth and Keswick. We do want to make some suggestions that we believe would benefit future guests. A 'welcome pack' upon arrival, containing a few basics (especially milk) is always a good thing. There are two wardrobes which, between them, need many more than the six hangers we were provided with. Include hairdryer in the description. Before arrival, we were unsure if one would be available (there was) so we phoned Sykes to ask but they did not get back to us as promised. There were just a couple of wall-mounted mirrors and no bedroom chairs to sit on. A dressing table and / or a movable mirror positioned near to a socket with a small stool to sit on would be most welcome. We stayed during a hot week in June and would have welcomed some lightweight bedding / blankets as the duvets were far too warm. Please add a cradle / basket in the shower cubicle to hold soap / shampoo etc. For basic domestic tasks please provide some tea towels, clothes washing powder / detergent plus pegs for the clothes line - which would also benefit from being raised at one end to prevent longer items trailing on the ground. On a number of evenings we were shocked when the owners appeared unexpectedly in the garden and right outside the windows. It was a June heatwave when we stayed, and we understand that there was a need to water the plants, but a prearranged time or a knock at the door would have been the correct way to do this. We felt our privacy was invaded. The description also needs updating in regards to the The Last Man Inn pub next door which (at the time of writing) is only serving drinks, not food. The directions provided by Sykes would also be much improved, and save visitors time, if they stated that the cottage is immediately next door to it. This feedback may seem to be weighted towards the things we found wanting (hopefully to be taken as constructive feedback, not outright criticism) but overall the cottage is a fine place to take a restful and tranquil holiday in a clean and comfortable cottage.

  • "The accommodation was very lovely and had great facilities."

The hosts were very nice and welcoming and on hand for anything needed. Felt very at home for the week. Sat out on the patio overlooking a field of sheep most evenings. Property was in close proximity to other properties but still very quiet location. Loved it

  • "Modern, very clean, well kept bungalow with amazing views across the Solway Firth."

We had a really comfortable stay and parking out on the road was no problem. It was a quiet village with good access to the northern lakes and away from a lot of the other tourists. It was child friendly too and they couldn't believe they had TVs in their room! The only thing that would have been nice to have was oven gloves. Thanks for a great stay.

  • "The property was stunning and even better than the pictures A perfect base for for a Cumbrian getaway."

Plenty of room, cosy and everything you require. Couldn't of asked for more. The listing does state off road parking for a small car this isn't the case, but also isn't a problem as plenty of space to park on the road outside.

  • "We booked this property during the kids half term break!"

Although it was a last minute booking, we had a quick response from the owners of the property. The property itself exceeded our expectations and located in a quiet village. We had a wonderful 3 night stay and very convenient to drive to all the attractions in Lake District. The owner was able to accommodate our request, hair dryer in particular. We were touched by the kind gesture and he offered that we can check out late or stay for another night. We will definitely come back in the summer time and this place is highly recommended for everyone.

A very modern television but even my Grandkids couldn’t set it up . The tv signal was very poor, sometimes cutting out every few minutes. There is no parking space, only on the road. But after saying that we had a lovely week . with TVs in all three bedrooms. Very modern kitchen and bathroom.
