Location: Silloth

Keswick 24 miles.

The popular seaside resort of Silloth, situated amidst Cumbria's Western Lakes and Coast, nestles on the shores of the Solway Firth. Facing the hills of Southern Galloway and backed by the Lake District Fells, Silloth is renowned for its invigorating but mild climate, its leisurely and peaceful atmosphere and perhaps, most of all, its glorious sea views and sunsets, fine enough to be recorded for posterity by Turner, the famous landscape artist. Silloth was originally built to accommodate a port in the late 19th Century and the imaginative development of the area can be seen in its wide, elegant tree lined streets, spacious sea front and magnificent promenade stretching towards Skinburness. The attractive town centre boasts 36 acres of open grassland, known simply as 'The Green', while a championship golf course dominates the edge of the town and has been described as one of the top fifty golf courses in Britain. This is a superb area for walking, with the Cumbria Coastal Walk running right along the coastline, and excellent birdwatching opportunities are also available. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance are the many attractions and glorious landscape of the Lake District.

Previous visitors' comments about 8 Station Mews:

A very relaxing house and immaculate too. A three minute walk to 'Joan's Plaice' for excellent fish and chips!
Mr & Mrs Shew, Leyland, February 2012

The cottage was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean with lovely decor. It made a great base for our holiday. We chose the property because of it's location near the English Solway Coast, it's proximity to Carlisle and the fact that we could bring our dog.
Mrs Nicholson, Rochdale, November 2011

A lovely modern house with everything you need close by. It was a great base for a quiet and relaxing break.
Mrs Dailly, Huddersfield, September 2011

This was a lovely property that was much bigger than we expected. A real home from home. The seating was comfortable and easily accommodated a family of five that includes 3 teenagers. The beds were also very comfortable. The owners had made a real effort to include thoughtful touches not only with the decor but also by the inclusion of additional items such as a selection of DVDs, books and games. The position of the house made it just a minute or two to walk to the coast and the shops. Silloth is a very quiet seaside town but that suited us down to the ground. Its position in relation to the Lakes and larger resorts such as Whitehaven makes it an ideal base for that part of the world. We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday.
Mrs Madden, Stoke-on-Trent, August 2011
