Location: Caldbeck

Wigton 7.5 miles; Carlisle 12 miles; Keswick 16 miles; Cockermouth 17 miles.

The charming Cumbrian village of Caldbeck is situated on the northern fringes of the Lake District National Park and is surrounded by beautiful moorland and fells. It’s a classic stone built village with a church, pub, village green and duck pond. The church dates back to the 12th century and is famous for being the resting place of the renowned huntsman John Peel. Although in every sense a ‘traditional working village’, the local craft centre at Priest Mill and the riverside walks to the Howk gorge, draw visitors to Caldbeck. An ideal centre for the Northern Lakes and handy for Skiddaw, Bassenthwaite and the Solway Coast.

The Property

Caldbeck 5 miles. A lovely semi-detached cottage nestling in its own grounds, in the scattered village of Rosley, just five miles from the village of Caldbeck. A good quality Cumbrian cottage, set amongst the lovely rolling countryside of northern Cumbria, the property features a modern, well-equipped kitchen, an adjoining spacious dining room, a warm and cosy sitting room with open fire, three well laid-out bedrooms and a lovely mature, split level garden thriving with birds and occasional red squirrels. An ideal Cumbrian cottage to get away from it all and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of this quiet and unspoilt area. In the lee of the northern Lakeland fells, this is a lovely walking and cycling area, with parts of the C2C cycleway and Cumbrian Way available locally, and the quiet undiscovered northern Lakeland fells of High Pike, Knott and Carrock Fell are nearby. Within easy driving distance of this Cumbrian cottage is the bustling market town of Penrith, which offers a wide choice of excellent pubs, hotels, restaurants and entertainment, a museum, and Millennium Trails around the historic city streets. Within easy reach of Penrith is Rheged – an innovative visitor centre with shops, restaurants, exhibitions and a giant cinema screen showing educational and informative films. The historic city of Carlisle and the Lakeland town of Keswick with its celebrated theatre are also within easy travelling distance, as is the stunning scenery of both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
