Perfect for couples, friends or solo travellers—including those with limited mobility—this adults-only retreat offers level access, a spacious shower with seat, and the added convenience of an on-site bar and restaurant, all just a short stroll from the lake and village centre.

Arrive to the soft crunch of gravel as you approach this historic stone building, standing proudly since 1871.

Its timeless façade is complemented by tasteful outdoor touches—well-kept planters, warm lantern lighting, and sculpted deer figures that lend a sense of quiet elegance.

Step into the ground floor, where a curated display of regional artwork brings the Lake District’s natural beauty and artistic heritage indoors, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive.

Tap the fox’s head doorknocker and step into a space full of personality, where a striking red feature wall sets the tone for a memorable stay.

Take a seat in one of the plush green armchairs and flick on the Smart TV, or head straight for the super-king-size bed—zip/link for flexibility—ideal whether you're travelling as a couple or with a friend.

The en-suite shower room is designed with comfort in mind, featuring a generous cubicle with a seat and just a small step in.

A fridge and kettle are on hand for light refreshments, perfect for slow mornings or evening wind-downs.

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
