The town of Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain around the area. Allendale is ideally placed for access to Carlisle to the west, Hexham to the east or the Roman Wall just to the north. There are lots of walks and unspoilt villages in the area, which is an ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside or travelling further north to the glorious Heritage Coastline.

Friendly, local pubs with homemade food and a wonderful area for dog walking. Quaint village with a Cotswold feel. Allendale is a hidden gem and not too far from Hadrian's wall.
