About the location

Ambleside

Windermere 4 miles; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead there is a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Apart from the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th Century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

The apartment was clean, modern, very well equipped, centrally located so only a short walk to the shops etc. with beautiful views over Ambleside.

Mrs Hunter, Liverpool, February 2014

The location was perfect. A nice quiet cottage set back from the centre of Ambleside but within 2 minutes walking distance of pubs, restaurants and shops. Easy to explore other areas of the lakes too. My brother and his partner dropped us off and loved the cottage and area that much that they booked for 2014.

Miss Martin, Stalybridge, December 2013

The location of the of the apartment was exactly as described, perfect for our family needs and to use as a base to explore the region or relax locally. The property was maintained well with everything in working order, meaning we could get on with our holiday in our own time and relax after a day out. We would certainly use this accommodation again.

Mr Berry, Stockport, August 2013

Perfect location for touring the Lakes. Very high standard property with a wonderful view.
