Location: Ambleside

Windermere 4 miles; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead there is a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Apart from the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th Century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Previous visitors' comments about One Tweenways:

Tweenways was a welcome break and the property is conveniently situated for Ambleside, has car parking and is close to a number of walks. Overall an excellent location and we will certainly book staying here again. The Sykes staff were very friendly and helpful.
Mr Fisher, Liverpool, December 2011

There was a good use of space here. The location was very good, close to Ambleside with a parking space. Useful to have washing machine and dishwasher.
Miss Sharpe, Burnley, October 2011

An ideal property for a couple. The location was fantastic and just a few minutes walk from the center of Ambleside and all amenities. We did several walks and climbs from Ambleside and we also used the putting green and cinema. Good choice of restaurants and coffee shops. Spectacular scenery - ideal location for a holiday!
Ms Old, Dagenham, July 2011

The location of the property was excellent for us. The house was lovely and cosy. The hot shower was excellent, and a great way to relax after a long walk! It was really quiet inside due to the internal layout and it was great to have the dishwasher. Thank you for an excellent base for our holiday! Sykes haven't failed us and we'd recommend you!
