Location: Appleby-in-westmorland

Penrith 14 miles.

The historic town of Appleby, set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley, is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. Visit Appleby in June and experience the atmosphere of the three hundred-year old Horse Fair. With the delightful Pooley Bridge and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.

Previous visitors' comments about Eden Cottage:

It is a picture perfect cottage which has an excellent, well stocked kitchen. The location is spot on being close to town for a short walk but out of town enough for great dog walks! Pubs/shops were top class and very friendly locals. We all had an amazing time!
Mr Edmond-Greene, Leyland, December 2011

The cottage was lovely, just like a home from home! Very comfortable and relaxing. Would look at returning.
Mr Gibson, Norwich, November 2011

The scenery and places that we went were beautiful. The people were friendly and hospitable. An excellent holiday.
Mrs Farley, Basildon, October 2011

The cottage was furnished to a very high standard and the introductory pack of eggs, milk, biscuits and fuel was a very pleasant bonus. The garden fascilities were excellent and the weather was unbelievable making our stay memorable. The neighbours were very friendly and we would certainly recommend this property to all our friends!
