  • "We love the area around Arnside and have stayed in and around the village for many years."

We found Fox cottage to be ideal for us and our little dog. The cottage was clean, comfortable, well maintained with every facility catered for. We loved the rear courtyard. It was so peaceful to sit out in the sun with a drink or something to eat. The location was ideal for walks as well as getting to the railway or going out in the car. We would certainly stay again on our next visit to the area.

It is in a good location with walks from the doorstep. Good communication from the owner. Charming courtyard garden to the rear. It would be a cosy stay in the colder months with the log burner going. Would return.

Lovely kitchen and bathroom and all the facilities we needed. The owner is very helpful and we even had decent weather. These is a couple of dog friendly pubs within walking distance and the fish and chip shop is excellent ( go early as it gets very busy) Wonderful walks on the doorstep and everything we needed for a great holiday :)

Very pretty , modern and well maintained. Great spot to walk to the beach and pubs and cafes etc. Very welcome bottle of wine and chocolates. My only criticism really would be every cottage or house I have stayed in has the staples if teabags/ coffee/sugar ( milk) These would be a good addition as I didn't bring due to the fact they are always there.

  • "Fox Cottage has been beautifully renovated by the owner Mary & is equipped with very high end fittings such as the fantastic rain forest shower and under floor heating in bathroom."

Lots of care and attention given in all areas making it super comfortable for all guests. Parking at front of house became easy with practise - we found it best reversing in from the Silverdale road. Plenty of lovely walks direct from cottage no car needed .. Cottage is situated a 10 minute walk up hill from the promenade which wasn’t an issue for us as keen walkers but frailer guests may need to drive down to village. Good dining & real ale at The Albion and amazing award winning Fish & Chips at chippy. Enough small shops for basic groceries but Booths at Milnthorpe 15 minute drive away excellent for bigger shopping. Arnside having train station is a real bonus - fab day out to Ulverston & Grange over sands - highly recommended!

Re-visiting Arnside is always a pleasure for me as my siblings and I enjoyed childhood holidays with our Uncle on High Knott Road. We found his bench on the pier! Just a glimpse of the estuary from our bedroom window at the cottage, but walks on the Knott readily available and thoroughly enjoyed by cocker spaniel Murphy! We enjoyed fish and chips brought to the door, and a lovely meal at the Albion where they could not do enough to please us! Superb food and service! Our last stop was the market at Milnthorpe for a breakfast bap before heading home on Friday, taking with us a Cumberland sausage ring for our tea! Thank you for everything, especially the superb bath!

  • "We had a very comfortable stay in a beautiful part of the country."

The cottage was perfect for our needs (3 adults and our dog), stylishly renovated whilst homely and well-equipped. The beds were comfy and the bathroom spacious. As it is a terraced property, consideration needs to be given to the neighbours. The cottage sits uphill from the estuary and is conveniently placed to access Arnside Knott, giving glorious views of the estuary and Fells. A special mention to Mary, the owner, who was incredibly warm and helpful over the phone.

The facilities were excellent and the beds very comfortable. The plumbing left a little to be desired, but we coped. When we were cleaning on the last day, the vacuum cleaner had an awful 'doggy' smell. By the time we'd finished vaccing, the house smelt terrible. Our dog is clean and does not smell, so it was a bit of a shock to use the vac. I think it could do with a service!

We loved the feel of the whole cottage, the art, furnishings and modern, clean bathroom and kitchen (once we found the 'hidden' drawer with the pans!) Great shower and comfy bed, sitting in front of the log burner and great walks from the door - perfect! It's not far to the shops, pubs and cafes on Arnside promenade and a stroll a bit further to the Beach Hut for coffee and cake takeaway.
