Previous visitors' comments about Merle Cottage:

We loved the location the scenery and the walks with our dog were fantastic. The house was very comfortable and warm the open fires were a treat. There was everything we needed we cooked a traditional Xmas dinner as we would at home.
Mrs Knight, Warrington, December 2011

A dog friendly cottage which made our stay relaxed and enjoyable. The garden was enclosed and excellent for the dogs which was our major priority. The cottage was warm and cosy and more than adequate for our needs. An excellent choice!
Mr Witt, Chatham, September 2011

The cottage was situated on the edge of the village so it was just a short walk in, which was very handy. There were plenty of walks near and around the cottage with other walks not too far away - especially the forest walks. The garden was pleasant and the layout was ideal for dogs. The cottage was warm and very comfortable and we would consider a revisit as it was a lovely village.
Mrs Leek, Birmingham, September 2011

The Teesdale valley, the walking, the unimproved meadows and the industrial history.
