    • “Beautiful Cottage, Beautiful surroundings, Bird watchers paradise”

    • “We just returned from a three night stay at Cow Byre Cottage. The cottage is maintained to a very high standard and one of the quirkiest places I've stayed. Cow Byre has a lovely homely feel about it which is even better once you get the open log burning stove going on a cold March windy night. We took all of our own provisions and everything else we needed for a nice weekend away from it all. The grounds are very welcoming and all prior instructions are easy to follow i.e. where to park, where the key is etc. The owners where very thoughtful in the gifts they left. I won't go on too much about the Cottage as you need to visit for yourselves. The area is a walkers paradise with open fells, nature reserves etc. If you don't want to venture out on arrival to Cow Byre you need no go any further than the window as it's a bird watchers paradise, cameras to the ready and enjoy your stay; I know we did.”

    • “My boyfriend and I stayed at the Cow Byre for 3 nights for a short break during his birthday period. The property was exquisite and luxurious with roll top bath, wood burning stove and four poster bed, absolutely 5 star. The break was everything we wanted and more, the accommodation had everything we needed for a more than comfortable stay as well as lovely extras such as bathrobes, slippers and a great DVD collection. Upon arrival we were greeted with a bottle of wine, a personalised card, chocolates and eggs and milk in the fridge! The views were superb and and the surrounding areas fantastic and accessible. Lisa and Mark provided a useful folder containing info about the property and also surrounding pubs, activities and things to see. We honestly could not fault a single thing about this accommodation or our stay- we shall definately be returning! Thanks again Kate & David”

    • “This idyllic cottage is a perfect location for a short relaxing break with very easy access to both the east of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Cottage is furnished with lovely attention to detail and provides quirky and endearing living space for young couples. We loved the open plan layout of the cottage - especially the views out over the hills from the fantastic bath!! We would definitely return to the cottage. Our every need was catered for while also giving us the privacy and space we wanted for our mini-moon! Highly reccommend!”

We haven't stopped telling our friends and family and recommending it to others. Fantastic 4 poster bed, huge roll top bath....everything you need...even a bottle of wine and cookies, milk and eggs...Thank-you....for a wonderful stay! Amy and Phil x”

    • “One of the most beautiful and individual cottages I have ever seen. Had such a relaxing time and couldn't have enjoyed the mini break more. The wine, cookies and chocolates from Lisa and Mark were a lovely touch as was the milk and eggs. The views were phenomenal and my partner and I got quite used to waking up to such wonderful sights, even for the few short days we stayed. Very much hope to return again. Thank you for having us!”

    • “We recently spent a long weekend at the cow byre. We loved it from the welcome card, wine and chocolates to the home from home comforts. The cottage had everythig we needed and was surrounded by lovely walks and close by to Kirby Stephen. We are looking forward to returning in the bear future. Thank you for a wonderful stay.”

    • “Romantic, perfectly planned out cottage”

    • “From the wine, cookies and welcome card to the wonderful slippers and bathrobes it was clear that the owners really care about this property and the guests that stay there. Really great attention to detail made this the perfect getaway cottage. The photos really don't do it justice. Everything was just wonderful I would highly recommend staying here - although possibly not in January as the weather was appalling! The restaurant guide came in handy and on Saturday night we had a great indian meal in Kirkby Stephen, about 5 miles away.”

    • “Quirky but Exquisite”

    • “It is easy to see why this cottage is popular for honeymoons. The bedroom is like the poshest room in the best hotel you could imagine. The whole cottage is very well equipped, though a little short on storage space. The owners are extremely friendly, without being intrusive. The setting high on the side of the Eden Valley is idyllic, and you will see lots of birds and other wildlife from the living room. From the welcome pack to the bathrobes, it is obviously a cottage that has a lot of love put into it. There was even a 'welcome' card clearly selected to reflect our enthusiasm for butterflies. You feel more like a welcome guest than a customer.”

    • “I booked this for a weekend treat for my wife's birthday and have to say it was the best decision I made! It is simply incredible. The pictures do not do it justice and if you are looking for a perfect, romantic weekend (or longer if you are lucky!) then this has to be the place. Lovely personal touches, such as chocolate, bottle of wine and cookies waiting upon our arrival and fresh milk and eggs all made for a wonderfully relaxing three nights. A perfect base to tour the Lakes but plenty of local walks if you dont fancy driving once you get there. I cannot recommend The Cow Byre enough and hope that one day we will be fortunate enough to return to this small piece of heaven. :)”

    • “We stayed here for our 1st wedding anniversary in May and it has been beautiful! The photos of The Cow Byre are lovely but really didn't do it justice. We were amazed at how lovely it was is the flesh! When we arrived we had milk, eggs, wine and cookies waiting for us, which was a lovely touch. The place is immaculate and decor is completely my taste. We spent the first day just saying how we could live here! I really can't rate it enough. Mark and Lisa were fab. Really friendly and helpful. The cottage is full of information on where to visit, which was really helpful. It's really nice to actually go somewhere and it be this perfect as there is usually something that can put a bit of a dampner on your holiday but there has literally been nothing. This has been nicer than our 2 week honeymoon abroad, even though the weather hasn't been brilliant, it hasnt mattered as its just nice to be here and everything be so easy! We will certainly be returning!”
