The views are spectacular. The cottage is spotlessly clean, well equipment and very homely. Like a home away from home. The owner Mary and her dog Bertie are such fabulous hosts, friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Mary called me prior to our stay to discuss any queries I may have had and sent a very helpful email to me detailing all the necessary facilities and location of doctors, hospital, bank, shops, pubs etc. We ate in The Cavendish in Cartmel which Mary recommended and I can definately say I had the most delicious steak and ale pie that I've ever had. Would stay here again if I ever visit the Lake District again

It is such a peaceful and beautiful place and the cottage is so comfortable and you don't want for anything as everything is provided for. Mary the owner and her son were so friendly and helpful and they informed us of local information. Our dog Barney loved it there and made friends with Bertie and Bailey the two dogs at the next property. Cartmel is a beautiful village and we walked down to the village and back several times. We will definitely be booking another stay at this cottage again.

Surrounded by open countryside fields and trees with the sound of birds and wildlife. BUT the highlight of our stay was BERTIE the dog. He (along with his 2 friends - pink pig and flying chicken ) will keep you amused all day, he must cover miles retrieving these if you have the stamina to keep throwing !!! • "Mary and Bertie were very nice hosts for our week."

The cottage is just as the listing describes. It sits a little bit out of the village of Cartmel, so is a little bit of a walk into the village, but not undoable. The lanes to the cottage are narrow, but we never had any issues and there are plenty of passing places. The cottage itself is lovely. Everything is there you could need, and even some little extra touches you wouldn't normally get (I'll not say what, it would spoil it). The kitchen is a good size and very well equipped, the lounge is comfortable and functional. Upstairs is really big with plenty of space. I know it's a 2 person cottage, but you could easily fit a fold out bed in as well and still have loads of room. The bed is lovely and comfy. One tip, if you're not an early bird close the blinds at night or you'll be woken by the sunlight streaming in at 5 in the morning. Bathroom is a good size too. The shower isn't high pressure, but does the job and has lots of room. We stay somewhere different each time we visit The Lakes, but would definitely come back here.

This is a little misleading as the road to the village is very narrow and not really walkable as this I feel could be quite dangerous. The cottage however sits in a very quiet and picturesque location

My house and cottage sit at the top of a narrow single track private lane which serves only this property and one other at the bottom where it is much wider - the only other traffic are the postman and bin collection, so it is really quite safe. From the lane the road to the village is narrow in parts as are most other roads around Cartmel, it being the countryside, but this road is very quiet and most of my guests regularly walk down to the village as do most of us locals and we have never had any problems.
