  • "Beautiful home and very well equipped."

Had a wonderful stay. Great location being only few mins walk to nearest shops, restaurants and lake but far enough away for it to be quieter of an evening. Just wish the check in time was earlier, 5pm was a little late.

  • "The house was great and suited us as we were out most of the weekend."

The front bedrooms are very bright, waking us up at 5am as there were no blackout blinds or any way to block out the sun. The house was reasonably clean although there were quite a lot of cobwebs and spiders. A few things were broken, such as one of the dining chairs is about to collapse and the plinths in the kitchen. The oven seemed back to front with the symbols not corresponding to the function - this caused us to have grilled pizza!! The communication about checking in etc was excellent. There was virtually no hand soap left in the bathroom and 2 toilet rolls for the weekend but I wasn’t sure if these were included.

  • "The property is wonderfully homely, very well stocked with everything you need for a week away from home - tea, coffee, sugar, condiments, laundry detergent, good thick towels etc."

A proper home away from home. It is well presented, with comfy huge beds and cosy sofas, two good TV rooms, and a powerful hot shower. There are odd scuffs here and there on the paint work - but for us that added to the comfort as it doesn't feel so pristine that we couldn't relax, especially with having our two dogs with us. The location is fantastic, there's so many pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. The coop is an easy 10 minute stroll away, and we walked to the ferry several times at bowness, which took 10 mins. The heating was easy to boost when we were chilly or if we needed to dry out wet clothes after a rainy walk. Parking is only on-street, which initially worried us, however, we never had any issues with finding a parking space near to the front door. There are a few recent negative reviews on here about noise due to building work nextdoor, which was ongoing during our stay, however, we didn't find this particularly disruptive and we found that it was carried out within legal permitted hours. Overall, a really lovely, well-thought out, spacious holiday property which we would love to come back to in the future.

  • "Struggled with keeping the heating at a constant."

We don't like a particularly hot house (normally have our thermostat set at 18 degrees), but as the weather was minus degrees outside the temperature inside kept dropping to 14 degrees. Kept on having to boost it, especially as we had a baby with us

  • "We had a lovely weekend stay at Brinkburn."

The house is great and was very clean and comfortable with lots of space inside. The location is very good, only a 10 minute walk to the pubs, cafes, shops and lakeside in Bowness. We visited Grizedale forest and Fell foot park and had a lovely (although steep) walk from the back of the property up to Brand Fell which has stunning views of Lake Windermere. A couple of negatives, unfortunately the property next door is undergoing a complete renovation and so we were woken early each morning with very loud banging which continued through the day. Having a dog with us, we felt the property lacks a decent enclosed outside space. There is a small front yard and a communal back yard but neither are enclosed so we couldn’t let our dog out unless on a lead (which she is not used to). There was also a large skip from next door outside the back door. Having said this, we did really enjoy the house and our few days away but wouldn’t book again with a dog.

Thank you for your kind comments, and for taking the time to leave feedback. We are very sorry for the disruption to your holiday caused by the neighbour's renovation work. We have been in contact with them and have been assured that work will only be done within the legal timeframes permitted. While we apologise for any inconvenience this may have cause, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back to Brinkburn in the near future. Property Owner

The dampener for us was I booked this place as a surprise trip away for my heavily pregnant partner and to be woken on 2 or the 3 mornings by loud renovations work next door that continued throughout the day was very disappointing. I wouldn’t have booked the place if we knew about that… but without the works next door, it would be a lovely stay.

Conveniently located, a good size and nicely decorated. Only thing I would say this time is the front room was quite cold - the heating made little difference. Perhaps something can be done to limit the draft that comes through the front door into the hallway. Other than that, a great stay once again!

The cottage had everything we needed and more. What would be useful is if the TV worked in the snug room and also possibly a dishcloth or sponges for cleaning up. I know this isn't something you have to supply but we never thought to bring one away with us and other properties we have visited supply them. Would definitely return.

  • "Great location."

We had a lovely 7 night stay at brinkburn. Location was great, house was clean, comfy beds and a lot of space, very well equipped kitchen, the description does not say but the TV is a smart TV too, which is an added bonus for an evening in after a day of walks. It would have been even better if a couple of logs were provided for the log burner for when you arrive as well as a couple of dishwater tablets, you are unable to get into the property until 5pm which is quite late, would have been nice to have these but not a big issue. It does not have its own parking space which is fine for just 2 with a small car as you are likely to get a space on the road outside, however if it was a multi car trip you may have struggled as the road was always packed. The property is at the top of the hill in bowness on Windermere and was only a 10 minute walk to the front which was great, we could go out for meals in bowness with no need to drive. If it was just a one car holiday we would definitely book here again! Thank you.

We can be a little fussy when looking for the perfect place but this home took our breath away. The house was homely, very spacious, had everything needed, it was very airy and clean (I have awful allergies and I didn’t feel irritable once) and it accommodated our little family absolutely perfectly. Location was great and very central within windemere. It was walking distance to beautiful pubs and restaurants. Skye’s cottages were extremely attentive with answering questions. On to the many positives.....The property itself was lovely, great size, bedrooms big enough and beds really comfortable, really spacious dining room and kitchen. Appliances and entertainment all good and shower upstairs was excellent and deserves a mention! Very difficult parking in street, often had to park elsewhere let alone get close to the property. A property that sleeps six is probably likely to be hosting 1 if not two vehicles. That is the only reason I would be unlikely to stay again, but would recommend in a heartbeat to any travelers with out a vehicle.

Excellently positioned in Bowness and a great base for travels around the Lake District. The house itself was of a good standard with the right level of cleanliness. Having WiFi access was a godsend to keep the kids occupied on an evening after outdoor adventures. Main challenge was parking, couldn’t get parked in the street or any close so ended up getting a week pass for the nearby (5 min walk) car park. Be warned, if you have to go down this route look to download the App before you go to the Lakes, trying to do it in the car park as the ticket machine wasn’t working took a good 25 minutes!

House on the whole was comfortable but really does need a deep clean, the oven and toaster looked like it had not be cleaned for a while which was disappointing as we had been in lockdown for 3 months so was an ideal time to do it. We reported these immediately on arrival, baking trays had to be cleaned before using and the vacuum cleaner was full. It was good to have a washing machine which I don't think was in the information when booking. There is no garden furniture.

This was due to the COVID and extra cleaning which we didn’t mind. So to find the cottage not up to the extra 2 hours cleaning left us disappointed. Downstairs toilet inside door full of dust and spiders web on mirror. I emptied kitchen bin to find it not cleaned properly and a child’s shoe at the bottom of it. Property was bigger than expected, lovely log fire which we bought the logs etc from the Cooperative. Furnishing to a high standard and very comfortable. Oven not cleaned to a good standard. Bedrooms comfortable but need new pillows as this let’s is down. Bath and shower were amazing, lovely soft towels. Outside the back of the property we parked 2 cars. Also two properties shared the back, so all the rubbish was piled up on our side, and looked like it had been there for months. 2 defusers were in place shame both were empty. A few niggling things but overall had a lovely comfortable stay. Thank you

Bedrooms were very cosy and comfortable and bathroom spacious, linen and towels were of high quality and the downstairs toilet was handy aswel.
