  • "Really, really amazing view."

.. perfect for getaway as a family or romantic getaway. Would definitely recommend and rebook in the future. Very lovely owners, nice privacy, perfect walking trails or even running areas, all super close by to the cottage.

  • "Lovely property situated on its own in grounds of owners home."

Set on high ground, the open views are superb to wake up to every morning and spectacular sunsets enjoyed from the patio every night due to the September heatwave we were lucky enough to experience. Our only criticism was that the patio furniture definitely needs a thorough overhaul, or replacing completely. Nevertheless would definitely consider a return visit.

Extra comfy king size bed. Well equipped and had everything we needed inside. Outside surrounding facing towards the coast are spectacular. Beautiful sunsets and lots of wildlife around. We had great weather but would have benefited from a parasol or similar for some shade. (Lucky us) Great advice from owners about eating out nearby.

  • "We really enjoyed our holiday here."

We were very impressed with everything about Nicky Nook. It was comfortable, clean and well equipped, with excellent insulation. Thank you for the wine, orange juice and the milk. The panorama from the lodge and the patio was superb. We could see south of Blackpool right up to the Lake District. We were entertained each evening by the wildlife. There were rabbits, hares, deer and moorhens to watch. We would recommend Nicky Nook for a lovely, peaceful break.

  • "Nicky Nook Lodge is gorgeously situated as described in a corner of the owners property though the open view over the Fylde and Lancashire cannot be described, only experienced."

We had the hares every morning, including one hopping along the patio, bunny watching in the meadow, pheasant wars, the little moorhen on the pond and a robin saying hello regularly. At night we could watch the different colours on the Tower, visible in the distance. The sunsets were SUBERB (we were lucky with the weather!!). Nearby Scorton has a shop and there are SO many walks in the surrounding area to choose from. Susan was really helpful and responsive when I needed to ask something.

Very comfortable and had everything we needed. Little touches like wine, juice & milk on arrival and a boot box for our dirty boots were much appreciated. The views were beautiful and the wildlife a delight to watch! Lodge is perfectly situated to explore Lancaster, Morecambe and the stunning Trough of Bowland. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

It was just right for two people, but possibly would be a bit cramped for more. We liked the location as it is good for walking with plenty of walks locally, also the view from the patio is wonderful! Yes, you can hear the M6 but otherwise it is peaceful and a joy to see all the wildlife, such as hares, herons, swallows and martins, coming in to the garden and in the fields beyond. Thank you for a good holiday.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed the week at Nicky Nook Lodge with its stunning views over the nearby countryside but the close proximity of M6 is a slight blot on the landscape."

The owners Susan and Paul were very welcoming, gave excellent easy to follow directions and went tot the trouble of providing the essential provisions including a bottle of wine which was incredibly thoughtful. The lodge was very well insulated and the hot weather coupled with humid evenings meant it was quite difficult to sleep. This is not a complaint as the great weather really added to the experience. The M6 can contribute to some unwelcome road noise especially if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction.

About the location

SCORTON

Garstang 3.6 miles; Lancaster 8.5 miles; Morecambe 15 miles.

Scorton is a village in Nether Wyresdale, on the very edge of the Forest of Bowland AONB. Although it was originally developed around the cotton mill and railway in the 19th Century, today it is most popular with walkers and cyclists seeking refreshment in one of its licensed restaurants. The village also hosts regular Food & Gift Fairs, where you can browse a delightful selection of stalls selling cheese, preserves, jewellery and crafts, to name but a few. Nicky Nook, its best known landmark, sits at the back of the village and, as it is only a short distance from the A6, the village is a wonderful starting point for exploring Lancashire. There are fishing opportunities nearby on the River Wyre, Wyreside Lake and Cleveley Mere. A few miles up the road is Garstang, famous for declaring itself as the world’s first Fairtrade town and well-loved for its delicious local produce and regular street markets. There is so much to keep you occupied in this area; the beautiful Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve, a day at Morecambe Bay or Blackpool, along with the popular towns of Lancaster, Kirkby Lonsdale and even Kendal and Windermere, easily reached in the car. With beautiful surroundings and an abundance of natural attractions, it is great for families, couples and friends.
