The Property

A well-presented terraced converted stable in an elevated position and backed by quiet woodland, on the edge of the charming Lake District town of Grange-over-Sands. One of two holiday properties set next to the owner’s home, the cottage offers an open plan living area with interesting feature stone walls and oak beams, and a spacious double and single bedroom, making it a comfortable, well-equipped base for couples and young families wishing to tour this varied area of the Lake District. Outside this cottage near Grange-over-Sands is a small patio, where you can enjoy the pleasant, peaceful surroundings at any time of the day, whilst within a few minutes’ stroll are some wonderful woodland walks to explore. The centre of Grange-over-Sands can be reached within ten minutes’ walk, where you will find a charming selection of specialist shops, including an award-winning pie shop and bakery, along with plenty of quaint tea rooms serving quintessential afternoon teas. The nearby village of Cartmel is home to an interesting ancient priory and some excellent pubs and eateries including the renowned riverside L’Enclume restaurant and of course, no visit to the village is complete without stopping off at the Village Shop to sample a scrumptious sticky toffee pudding and possibly purchase one to enjoy when you return home! This lovely Lake District cottage offers a great romantic base at any time of the year.

The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. Set amidst the southern lakes, the attractive town of Grange-over-Sands makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area.
