Cartmel 2 miles; Grange-over-Sands 3 miles.

The lovely village of Flookburgh is idyllically set on the shores of Morecambe Bay in the magnificent Lake District. Named after the locally caught Flukes fish, it was once a popular resting point for the weary traveller en route to Morecambe Bay and today provides a haven for cockle and shrimp fishers together with a choice of welcoming pubs. The Cumbria Coastal Path runs closeby, presenting superb walking and nature watching opportunities, while historic Cartmel, renowned as the prettiest village in the Lakes is just 2 miles away, home to quaint cobbled streets littered with antique shops, traditional pubs and the Michelin Star awarded L'Enclume restaurant. The nearby Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands features a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens and a choice of golf courses. A superb base from which to enjoy this interesting and historical area.

Previous visitors' comments about Dolphin Cottage:

Good location. Ample space for 6 people. Secure garden for the dogs. Very flexible with our requests. Sykes did not just discard our requests as other sites had done. They made enquiries with the owner and helped us to ensure our holiday was possible. Rapid response to our queries.
Ms Quinney, Truro, September 2009

Mr Cank, Melton Mowbray, June 2009

As the weather was so nice we especially enjoyed the outside area and playing table tennis. Overall we found the whole cottage very comfortable. It was very well equipped. I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends/family.
