  • "The location is beautiful."

but the cottage was not clean. Stains on the doors, stains on the floor and mold in the bathroom. The kitchen is fairly new and looks great. But there is not enough space to eat with 6 people at the dining table in the same kitchen. The master bedroom has a size of 140 x 200. We found this just too tight to sleep with 2 adults. 1 of the single mattresses in the other room was not okay. It is due for renewal. But we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings en the swimmingpool.

Other cottages but it was very quiet which was lovely. Lovely swimming pool. Local towns within easy travelling distance. Would definitely rebook.

  • "I have just returned from a fantastic stay in Bibbylot with my husband and two kids."

We booked this as a last minute getaway in the Lake District and basing ourselves out of Graythwaite estate turned out to be a great decision. The house itself is comfortable and had everything we could have wanted. I had read about uncomfortable beds however the only uncomfortable mattress was the top bunk in the bunk beds, but this wasn’t an issue as after the first night my daughter slept on the bottom bunk. We swam in the pool twice which the kids said was the highlight of their holiday. We rented kayaks from the estate and went out on Windermere which was an incredible experience. Graythwaite is short drive from hawks head and newbybridge which is handy. There is a farm shop on site too which is well stocked as well as table tennis and a great wee park the kids enjoyed using. There’s also communal washing machines which are useful. It’s worth following Dude’s Dough on face book as you can collect freshly made pizza from the estate if you get the right day. The only issues we had was finding our part of the estate on the first day, but in fairness we had not read the detailed instructions well enough, and that the code for the cottage we were sent to let ourselves in was incorrect and included a letter when it needed to be 4 numbers. Neither of which were major issues! We would definitely return and stay again.

  • "Having the swimming pool on site was a tremendous draw and we weren't disappointed - a superb facility."

The level of equipment in the cottage was the best we have yet experienced. The whole family enjoyed the experience - ideal location and even the weather couldn't spoil this long weekend in the Lake District in December - although the sun did wait until the final day to put in an appearance!

Beds really comfortable. Great for dog walking and stunning scenery. Shop assistants lovely and very helpful. Would certainly like to stay again as 3 nights were not enough

  • "Pros - Good walks and a beautiful location, the dogs loved it - Pool area was great fun - Good sized living room with comfy sofas Cons - The house advertised two bathrooms on Sykes Cottages, however upon arrival there was only one shower/bath and a cloakroom which between six adults was difficult."

Although this was mentioned in the small print it was clearly labelled as having two bathrooms for search purposes. - Kitchen table didn’t fit six people comfortably, you could not move around the kitchen when everyone was seated - Radiator broken in one of the bedrooms - Mould in the bathroom and bedrooms - Damp smell throughout the house, except the living room - Condensation on all windows - You are asked to strip the beds when leaving, we don’t mind doing this, but when paying £75 in cleaning fees we would expect the cottage to be in pristine condition on arrival. I would not recommend staying at Bibby Lot, especially if you are a party of six, four is plenty given one bathroom. Graythwaite estate itself is wonderful. The ladies in the farm shop were friendly and informative and the shop itself had all we needed for basics.

  • "Firstly, let me emphasize there was lots to like."

The cottage was spacious, very clean and tidy on arrival and well equipped. The setting was lovely, freedom of roaming the estate made you feel special, and the children enjoyed the swimming pool. For the money paid, we wanted and were expecting a bit luxury (a 4 out of 5, 5 out of 5 property). But frustratingly, the property was let down by cost cutting. Worst - the quality of the mattresses, pillows (soft / tired) and bed clothes (cotton / polyester rather than cotton). On holiday in a "luxury cottage", you want to enjoy an excellent night's sleep not pine for your bed at home. The kitchen had plenty of equipment but the food preparation knives were very poor quality and blunt. The toaster was cheap and hopeless. The hob extractor fan did work. No oven gloves were supplied. The kettle functioned fine but being labelled "Amazon basics" was indicative of the cost cutting approach. We got the impression the lounge had been recently redecorated / carpeted but some of the other rooms needed the same attention, in particular the upstairs bathroom. We also noticed the toilet handles were loose with the potential to be broken. With some minor investment and continual maintenance all these issues could be addressed and then we would singing the property's praises and recommending to others. But until then .. 3 out of 5 is the score which is disappointing.

The Estate was stunning which we and the dogs really enjoyed The outdoor facilities around the farm were fabulous- everything was catered for. Everything was well managed and the staff were amazing; so friendly and they couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you so much for a lovely break.

  • "We were moved to this property following complications with the property we originally booked."

All the staff I dealt with from Sykes were amazing & went above & beyond to make our holiday memorable. Bibby Lot was beautiful, spacious & the facilities were great. It was our first holiday as a family of four and due to being so close to the swimming pool, we were also able to start teaching the children how to swim. Bibby Lot was perfect for our family & so tranquil that we all slept brilliantly. Graythwaite Estate is gorgeous and we had a great time exploring the gardens & forests. Wish we had been able to stop longer!

The cottage & all its facilities were excellent with numerous walks from your doorstep to go with our dog. It was a lovely scenic setting made even better by the snow that came during our stay & there was never a dull moment. Use of the swimming pool was great & jreally felt settled in a quiet location. Highly recommend staying at any of the Graythwaite holiday cottages as they certainly provide everything for a great holiday.
