Location: Grange-over-sands

Cartmel 2 miles; Kendal 10 miles; Windermere 15 miles.

The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere, the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Set amidst the southern lakes, this attractive town makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area.

Previous visitors' comments about Dukesbury:

The tasteful and modern decor of the apartment, the quietness of the village and the friendliness of the owner, villagers & Sykes Cottages' staff members.
Mrs Aladegbaiye, Barnsley, December 2011

The apartment was excellent, very modern, clean and everything I needed and more was there. A great place to stay and a good location in Grange. A friendly welcome. In fact, I invited my parents down for the day to have a look around and they are talking of booking next year.
Mr Grundy, Salford, November 2011

The decor of the flat was excellent.
Mrs Smethurst, Neston, October 2011

Very modern, very clean and the attention to detail was excellent. The owner kindly left milk, bread and yogurts. Grange was really suitable for a holiday with 4 month old child in a pram - no Lakeland climbing for us!
Mrs Webb, Halifax, May 2011
