We had to park in front of a neighbours property luckily he was away for the whole week. Not ideal situation when we specifically wanted a parking place.

  • "Helpful and considerate property owners."

Good property with everything you will need. Close to all facilities including a supermarket. You can even leave your washing at the laundrette below and get it back the same day fully ironed! A bonus if you don’t fancy taking all your dirty stuff home to wash and iron. The walk from the property to Hadrians wall, via Haltwhistle Burn was the highlight of my stay. I was blessed with beautiful weather.

Flat is a great base. Well equipped and comfortable. Much larger than many 1 beds we have stayed in before.

  • "The apartment suited our needs perfectly and was a great base."

Everything worked well and it was clean and comfortable. Being centrally placed was convenient without being too busy or noisy. It was only about 7 minutes' walk to the station plus there were buses right outside so it was ideal for exploring the surrounding area. Enjoyed our week here and would highly recommend this property as a place to stay.

  • "I only booked the Drover’s Rest the day before due to a last minute decision."

Loved everything about this place. It was comfortable, extremely clean and spacious. The town was ideal for our base to walk Hadrians wall and coming back to relax on an evening, sitting in the window seat to watch the world go by. Lots of little bars, pubs and places to eat too. We would definitely like to return here again.

  • "The flat was larger than I expected giving me plenty of room."

I could sit in the bay window watching the world go by. The TV broke down but instant action was taken to replace it. Local shops are plentiful with a Sainsbury's and Co-op. Haltwhistle is full of history itself with easy access to Roman remains. Carlisle is a short train journey away. I had an enjoyable walk down the South Tyne and back. All in all a splendid flat in s wonderful location.

  • "We had a lovely holiday at the Drover's Rest in Haltwhistle."

The flat has everything required for a good holiday, and is very light and spacious, with lots of cupboard/wardrobe space. The oven and washer/dryer were very easy to operate. The bay window seat is lovely for people watching, and waiting for the AD122 bus to Hadrian's Wall. Haltwhistle is a fabulous little town with all the shops, pubs and eateries you could possibly need. Hexham was also a good place to explore. The flat was very central and convenient for the buses out to Hadrian's Wall, and the 3 day bus pass very reasonably priced. The only drawback was lack of parking round the back of the flat, as all the residents had their own parking spots, so parking in Sainsbury's car park solved the problem.

  • "A lovely apartment in possibly the freindliest town in England."

The owners of the apartment were equally as welcoming, helpful and friendly as they were on my first visit to this Haltwhistle apartment last year. Booking was so easy. I paid a deposit and Sykes did everything else whilst keeping me fully informed. No worries about when to make the final payment - Sykes let you know and will do it all for you if you want.

The exhaust fan in the bathroom of the flat below is very noisy, disturbing our sleep when used in the middle of the night.

  • "Regarding Drovers Rest all was of good quality."

We were very happy there on our visit to the Wall and Roman experience. The previous comments helped with evening plans. Two aspects that would raise from excellent to superb: 1) a bigger bed than the double provided. 2) sort out the off road parking as only 1 of the 3 nights was I able to use it. Otherwise great

  • "A lovely apartment in a beautiful town."

The owners were friendly and helpful and the apartment was very well equipped. It is an ideal spot to explore Hadrian's Wall and further afield using excellent public transport - especially the AD122 bus which gets you to various points of the Wall. Shops including Sainsbury and Co-op are a couple of minutes walk and there are plenty of good pubs, coffee shops and takeaways in the town. Hexham and Carlisle are within easy reach. It was very easy to sort out all the cottages/apartments on the Sykes website and even a fool could easily make a booking through Sykes (I'm the living proof of that)

Loads of radiators for warmth, and plenty of large, fluffy towels. The folders of local information were very welcome, with maps, leaflets etc. Ideally, we would have liked a shelf in the shower for toiletries, plus a non slip mat to stand on. Also, a 5 foot bed would have been our preference, rather than a 4foot6. We would love to return for a longer stay.

The apartment was very clean, tidy and warm. We found everyone we met to be very friendly and we really enjoyed our stay in Haltwhistle. Its a lovely little town with lots to do on its doorstep and extremely handy for a lot of the Hadrians wall sites. Special mention to the Black Bull pub where we spent quite a few hours enjoying good beers and good company. Every meal we had while staying in Haltwhistle was really good and that goes for all the other places we visited. Looking forward to returning to Northumberland sometime soon.

  • "The Drovers Rest in Haltwhistle was an excellent place to stay."

Right in the middle of the town and easy walking to supermarkets, banks, coffee shops etc. All the attractions of Hadrian's Wall Roman sites are easily accessible by car. The cottage was warm, welcoming, comfortable, well-equipped and wonderfully quirky. We loved it! The only issue was parking our car behind the building - so we solved it by leaving it in the Sainsbury's carpark just behind the cottage, as suggested by the host. I recommend the Drovers Rest for anyone wanting to visit Hadrian's Wall and that area of Northumberland.

The people are friendly and helpful. The shops are all little independents which was lovely, a small Sainsbury's within walking distance which you did not need really. There are many cafes serving excellent food you could have breakfast somewhere different every day. We went on a few of the short walks around the town, and up to Hadrians wall which was very good. The apartment was well quipped for our break and very warm with an excellent Christmas hamper of treats thank you for our Christmas Week.
