Location: Buckden

Kettlewell 5 miles; Hawes 12 miles.

Nestling at the foot of Buckden Pike, near the head of Upper Wharfedale, this idyllic village makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is National Trust owned – an indication of the beauty of its classic countryside, with dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valleyside woodland. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking areas in the Dales with The Dales Way passing nearby. The village itself comprises a cluster of stone built cottages and houses with a traditional green at its centre. The green is home to the famous ‘Buck Inn’ – a lovely Georgian coaching inn retaining much of its old charm. A perfect location for a holiday!

Previous visitors' comments about Clifford House Farm:

The cottage was spacious even with the full complement of eleven people. The location offered outstanding views of the Yorkshire Dales with plenty of walks on the doorstep.
Mr Middleton, North Shields, August 2011

Good location - Buckden is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, felt like we were really getting away from it all. Clifford House Farm was very nice to stay in.
Mr Evans, Reigate, March 2011

Everything - we had a great time, the house worked very well for us.
Mr Foster, Reading, July 2010

Lovely big family kitchen, always warm, even in the bitter cold, due to the AGA style appliance. The real heart of the property. The house was big enough to have a holiday with lots of family members yet still enough room to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. Superb walks straight from the house.
Mrs Dewhurst, Prenton, February 2010
