Location: Burton-in-lonsdale

Ingleton 3 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 5 miles.

The pretty village of Burton in Lonsdale is tucked into the hillside above the lovely River Greta. Its impressive 19th Century church spire is visible from miles around and evidence of Burton Castle can still be seen nearby. In the 18th and 19th Centuries, the village was renowned for its 13 potteries, which formed a vital part of local life. Two potteries, which welcome visitors, still continue the tradition in the nearby villages of Bentham and Ingleton. Burton in Lonsdale offers a shop with a post office counter, and also a welcoming pub. There are several 'undiscovered' quiet walks around the village and more popular walks such as the Three Peaks and Ingleton Waterfalls Walk within easy reach. Places of interest close by include Kirkby Lonsdale, Ingleton and Settle, while this is also an ideal base for exploring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.

Previous visitors' comments about The Woodland Lodge:

The Woodland Lodge was absolutely perfect. It was in a fantastic location surrounded by woodland and an abundance of wildlife. The cottage itself had everything one would want and more. The owner, had thought of absolutely everything even biscuits for our dog! We appreciated the wonderful welcome tray and fresh milk in the fridge. We really did not want to come home. It was so comfortable and truly a home from home. No one who stays there should ever complain, the cottage was a credit to the owner. We do hope to return.

It was a very comfortable cottage to stay in, very well placed. We would definitely return, and would recommend it without hesitation.

The friendly welcome received on arrival. How relaxing the experience of the cottage was, no pressure and we enjoyed the comfort of the cottage.
Mr Johnson, Durham, September 2012

The owner had provided extras you usually have to take, like salt and pepper. There was a nice welcome pack. Lovely location. Plenty of good eating places close by.
