Kendal 3 miles; Windermere 12 miles.
New Hutton is a small traditional Cumbrian hamlet set in beautiful countryside, ideally placed for exploring Southern Lakeland and the Yorkshire Dales. Just 3 miles away is the historic town of Kendal, with a fine reputation for shopping, known as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th Century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Visit The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, its regular collection holding portraits by Kendal-born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay. With other attractions such as the Museum of Lakeland Life, Lake Windermere and the wider National Park within easy reach, New Hutton provides a superb base for a relaxing break.

Previous visitors' comments about Hollins Farm Barn:
Lovely place to stay in a quiet location. The barn had everything you would need and it was a very cosy place to come back to after cycling around the lakes. The owners were very friendly and we will be recommending the place to our friends and family.

This cottage was perfect for what we wanted and fit a range of needs. The location is ideal for a feeling of comforting seclusion whilst only being a stones throw from supermarkets, takeaways and Kendal centre. Coupled with the beautiful cottage itself, this holiday ticked all the boxes.

It's difficult to elaborate on the fact that this cottage was perfect for what we wanted and would fit a range of needs. The location is ideal for a feeling of comforting seclusion whilst only being a stones throw from supermarkets, takeaways and Kendal centre. Coupled with the beautiful cottage itself and its non intrusive but very helpful owners, this holiday ticked all the boxes.

Stunning views from every window, a simply beautiful property. Lovely large sofa and a lovely place to stay. My Wife and I loved the fact there were plenty of pots. We will be back!
