Location: Braithwaite

Keswick 3 miles.

Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character! Between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Visit Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the lake with an open-air theatre, or take a trip around the lake. Trotters Farm, Dodd Wood, Derwentwater, and Keswick with its wide range of attractions, are also within easy reach.

Previous visitors' comments about The Byre:

Excellent location and standard of accommodation. The Byre really has to be seen to be believed.
Mrs Morris, Houghton Le Spring, March 2013

The Byre was a truly lovely place to stay. The views were sensational, something really special to wake up to each morning. I would highly recommend any to stay here if you are thinking of planning a trip to the Lake District.
Mr Wrigglesworth, Chelmsford, February 2013

The cottage was beautiful, much more than we expected. Walking into the living room was like walking into a picture postcard. Although the weather was poor on some days, being in the cottage more than made up for it. We had many birds visit us in the garden which was ideal as we are keen bird watchers.
Miss Robinson, Stoke-on-Trent, December 2012

A fabulous barn conversion in a gorgeous part of the world.
