Holme is a small traditional Cumbrian village set in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and the peaceful Forest of Bowland. The village has a Post Office/newsagent, a general store and a pub that serves good food. Holme lies 8 miles from the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and 10 miles from Kendal, the gateway to the Lake District. Access to all amenities and tourist areas is good - the historic city of Lancaster, and the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool are all within easy reach. The acclaimed RSPB wildfowl reserve of Leighton Moss is only 5 miles away, while Morecambe Bay is also famous for birdwatching. Other locations well worth a visit are the villages of Silverdale and Arnside (overlooking the beautiful Kent Estuary), Ingleton, Settle and Clapham. Levens Hall (famous topiary) and medieval Sizergh Castle with its beautiful garden are nearby. Good pubs and restaurants abound in the area. There is plenty of good walking, and golf, fishing and riding are all available locally.

A three storey, semi-detached stone built Lakeland cottage, on the outskirts of the pretty village of Holme, in the South lakes, with views across Farleton Fell. A delightful cottage, fully refurbished, this Holme cottage offers accommodation of real character and charm. There is a spacious living area with a cosy woodburning stove and two lovely bedrooms. Outside this Holme cottage, a mature cottage garden provides an ideal space for dining al fresco, whilst the nearby Lancaster canal offers lovely walks and sailing opportunities. There are yet more pretty walks and cycle routes available from the doorstep, whilst the Lune Valley, a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and the medieval Devil's Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale are well worth a visit. Feed the ducks in the village pond at the bottom of the grass track, try fishing in the nearby canal, which hosts spectacular bird life, or enjoy the riding opportunities nearby, together with a choice of golf courses. Previous visitors' comments about 1 Springfield:
Wonderful holiday, lovely cottage in lovely quiet location. Loved the canal walk nearby and very local to Kendal and all the attractions. Very kind owners too. Would definitely recommend it, much nicer than the photo online.
