Location: Kirkby Lonsdale

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, mid way between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year.

Previous visitors' comments about Fleshbeck Cottage:

Stunning, secluded location, great views. Peaceful and quiet. Cozy and characterful cottage, comfortably furnished with some nice antique pieces to reflect the age of the property, very homely. Loved the fireplace and so did the dogs! Xmas tree and decorations were a lovely touch. Owners friendly and accommodating. Beautiful surrounding area with quaint villages and towns. Good pubs and tea rooms, very dog friendly area.
Mr Meltzer, Macclesfield, December 2011

The location of this property is outstanding. It was exactly what we wanted for a short break. Only 5 minutes from Kirkby Lonsdale and 25 minutes from Kendal. We were also allowed to take our two dogs at a small extra fee of £10 for the second pooch. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. The owners were very accommodating.
Mr Cleland, Chatham, November 2011

Very peaceful and charming cottage. Ideally situated for the Lake District. Owners were also very charming.
Mrs Longden, Manchester, November 2011

Owners who are very nice people. My kids loved the house which although beamed, had very high ceilings. We liked the peace and quiet. Walks with dog to see cows and sheep nearby. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely town, very pretty. A good jump off to the Lakes.
