The Property

This superb, stone-built, semi-detached cottage, is located on a working livestock farm, within 200 yards of the Lancaster Canal in the small village of Crooklands, close to the Westmorland Showground, on the edge of the Lake District and close to the Yorkshire Dales. This excellent Cumbrian cottage offers magnificent holiday accommodation, with a pub within a couple of minutes’ walk away. Guests at this Cumbrian cottage will be delighted with the excellent standard of furnishings provided, plus there is a rooftop terrace where you can enjoy the views across the fields to the canal and Farleton Knott, a perfect place to enjoy a quiet glass of wine in the evening. This charming cottage provides superb accommodation with a stylish kitchen with dining area, two bedrooms with en-suite facilities, a lovely conservatory and a spacious sitting room with original beams and a door leading to a large, enclosed patio and garden. Guests can take a canal-side walk from the cottage door and even a cruise, which is run at specific times by the Lancaster Canal Trust and are a perfect way to observe the local flora and fauna, plus fishing can be enjoyed from the canal (licence required) and fly fishing is available locally. The beautiful Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park is just a 20-minute drive away, with endless paths and bridleways to explore, plus of course, wonderful National Trust Parks, including Fell Foot on the shores of Lake Windermere. The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway will delight fans of steam engines, whilst the Aquarium of the Lakes will entertain on a wet day. This perfect Crooklands cottage is a fantastic place to stay at any time of the year.

Crooklands is mid-way between Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale and Milnthorpe. It offers a pub/hotel, and the Lancaster Canal is within walking distance. Kendal, only five miles away is famous for its yards, narrow lanes, historic buildings and Kendal Mint Cake, as well as the unique Quaker Tapestry. Set in lovely rolling countryside, the area has much to offer, including the Levens Hall’s World renowed Topiery Gardens and deer park, The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, Leighton Hall, Sizergh Castle and the Lake District National Park, with Lake Windermere only 20 minutes’ away. Within driving distance is the Yorkshire Dales with caves at White Scar, Ingleton and the internationally renowned Malham Cove, plus in the opposite direction is the Morecambe Bay area of Silverdale. From stunning limestone pavements and wonderful woodland walks to beaches and scenic coastal paths, there really is something for everyone.
