I booked this for my family to be together for my 60th birthday every thing was great hot tub fantastic everybody really enjoyed it would definitely book again The two things I would say is could do with more serving dishes and utilities And spot light over hot tub we all tripped over steps may my age now

Really pleased you enjoyed the place as so many others have - despite our consistently high ratings, we are always striving for perfection and so we'll take all suggestions for improvement seriously - thank you for yours! Property Owner

  • "What a fantastic setting and perfect for family or large group get togethers."

Everything was as described in the listing and any minor queries we had were quickly responded to by the owner using the contact details provided. Dargonsfell is the ideal place for a getaway; idyllic rural hillside setting with Kendal and the Lake District within easy reach.

Thank you. So good to have so much positive feedback as we’ve worked hard to make the place live up to its promise. We’d love to welcome you back another time! Property Owner

  • "Lovely relaxing home away from home."

Everything we needed for a break with family. Ideally located away from crowds but close enough to enjoy all that The Lake District has to offer. Need to be mindful of neighbours. Area is so quiet noise travels so need to stick to 10pm curfew.

Thank you for the positive feedback. It is indeed very quiet and secluded yet not remote, which is one of the reasons I chose it. We do ask for noise levels to be kept down after 10 pm outdoors - easy to forget that in the hot tub! Thank you for your very positive feedback Property Owner

  • "Dragonsfell cottage was beautiful and such a great place for our family getaway - all of the bedrooms were fabulous but the best upstairs is the en-suite room - the bed was huge!"

and also the bedroom on the ground floor was amazing to get all cozy at the end of the evening with a vast array of books to chose from - the living room was a lovely big open space with a huge dining table to accomodate us all - the climbing enthusiast that was just doing the finishing touches when we arrived was lovely - my only issue is that the hot tub wasnt heated for our arrival so we couldn't make use of it for our first night and we only booked 3 nights and the younger ones was disappointed

Thank you Dawn, glad you enjoyed the place so much. Unfortunately with the hot tub we have to change the water between guests and it does take a little time to heat up and on short visits this can sometimes happen, though are looking into further ways to minimise this. Come back and see…..! Property Owner

The cottage was perfect for our group's needs and was very spacious with lots of social space and comfy bedrooms. Great hot tub. Location was very convenient and close to Kendal. We would definitely come back.

Thank you Ben, glad of course that you loved the place, as we do! We look forward to seeing you and your party again! Property Owner

  • "Excellent cottage in a very secluded group of houses."

Parking for 3-4 cars, hot tub, spacious living room and quality kitchen appliances / equipment. Still some work to do such as adding a utility room and downstairs toilet, but otherwise a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Thank you very much for your very positive feedback Matthew. Everyone loves the hot tub and the spacious, peaceful nature of the place. The additions you suggest are already on our list, and we hope you will visit again next year or whenever to check them out. Property Owner

  • "Had a really wonderful stay at Dragonsfell, you feel away from the busy crowds with beautiful surrounding views, that includes the Yorkshire Dales as well as the the Lake District."

Yet only a short drive from Kendal and Windermere not far away. Only 2 miles from M6, Junction 37. Exactly as it looks in the photos, characterful and spacious cottage, yet cosy, with most items we needed. The hot-tub was a great addition and the front garden very secure for our small dog. The owner was easy to communicate with and very helpful. Appreciate the very quick turnaround preparations, given we moved from another cottage at very short notice. Dragonsfell is at the time of writing a work in progress, with a few areas to finish, which the owner is planning to implement. However, this did not detract from our enjoyment, we came home feeling really refreshed after staying here. We would definitely recommend a choosing this cottage and would book here again.

Thank you so much Michelle, your enjoyment of Dragonsfell and your whole holiday is very important to us. We chose Dragonsfell originally precisely because of its location in the South Lakes with easy access to both the central Lakes area and the Yorkshire Dales, and the easy access a few miles from the M6 but no sight or sound of it. We have worked hard to raise this lovely, solid 3-floor barn conversion to its present level with the revamped kitchen, bathroom, lower ground floor bedroom, new woodburner and of course that genuine 7-seater Jacuzzi. It took a big crane to get it here, but everyone loves the Jacuzzi! The spacious kitchen-diner and the huge lounge we have nicknamed ‘the ballroom’ are big enough for guests to congregate in the one or spread out into the other - children can watch TV while adults chat over coffee in the kitchen. So glad you enjoyed and appreciated the place, as your satisfaction is part of the reward of owning a place like this. Now that we have completed all the major upgrades, we continue with the minor ones and any other improvements you and our other guests suggest. We do indeed hope you’ll come back and see us next year! Property Owner

  • "We had a great family holiday."

Venue terrific. Dragonsfell is a new let undergoing improvements. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, the lounge spacious and the bedrooms comfortable. When the improvements are complete and the owners plans put into place Dragonsfell will be the perfect holiday home.

Thank you so much Martin, your feedback is invaluable to us. Very glad that you had a lovely holiday. We shall of course be acting immediately on the refinements you so kindly suggested, in our quest for perfection. That is, as soon as we can get in - the property was booked out again at short notice the day after you left. We would be delighted to host you and your family again. Property Owner

  • "We stayed for 2 nights along with another family."

Pros: Kitchen appliances are great, huge living/dining room. Great location for hikes or going to other attractions. Cons: After arriving to the property we notice the ensuite was locked up and messages the owner. Then we were notified the ensuite had a leak and we can no longer use it. This leaves the 10 of us with one shower, and two separate toilet. This was a big let down. Then one of the room down stairs was very dusty and the sheets had yellow marks, the pillow cases also had black marks. We had to put towels over it to sleep. However other rooms was perfectly fine. The next day owner did give us the access to other clean sheets. The Jacuzzi took a whole day to heat up so we only used it for one day. Another let down was the flooring squeaks so bad the whole cottage can hear it. Also if you want to throw party avoid here as neighbours will. complain very badly.

Owner’s Response: THE FEEDBACK ABOVE NEEDS TO BE SEEN IN THE CONTEXT THAT IN VIEW OF THEIR GROSS OVER-OCCUPANCY AND DISREGARD FOR OUR NEIGHBOURS THEY HAD TO BE ASKED TO LEAVE. We agree completely with the party comment: this is a beautiful large house in a small community in with people that live in it full time and we call neighbours - it is manifestly not the place to indulge in gross over-occupancy. So if, having read the very detailed website description - or even your contract - instead of the maximum occupancy of 10 you brought 20 and instead of the maximum 3 cars brought 11, you might have realized it was perfectly predictable that the neighbours might notice and might object. You might be lucky enough for the owner only to insist that the excess cars and guests left immediately and allow the bona fide guests to stay until the next morning, rather than insisting you all left immediately as so grossly ignoring your contractual responsibilities would easily justify. With regard to the other points, the en-suite did have a terminally serious leak and was indeed out of action for safety reasons, waiting for a plumber, and that information had been passed to the agent. The situation has since been fully rectified, with a whole new en-suite bathroom installed. The guest comment also forgot to mention the bath. We do not know how the smudge on the bedding came about, and was not notified to us for us to deal with as we would have done, but the yellow piping was the service company’s colour code for king size. We were, for multiple reasons, in the process of considering switching to a new cleaning and changeover company anyway. With regard to the hot tub, the problem was self-inflicted. When we sent out our professional hot tub service guy - who had set up the tub earlier that day - he found that the guests had themselves interfered with the controls and stopped the normal warm-up sequence…..which he promptly reinstated. In summary, we set up this property to be a haven for families sharing and reasonably well behaved groups looking for a quiet place conveniently located in tranquil countryside yet well placed for the central and southern Lakes as well as the Yorkshire Dales, be they family groups, walkers, cyclists or other lovers of the countryside. So if all you want is a beautiful holiday come to Dragonsfell…. Property Owner
