  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, very comfortable character cottage."

Very nicely situated with easy access to local amenities. We would love to have a return stay before too long.

  • "Nice cottage in a good location for exploring Whalley and the Ribble Valley."

Comfortable bed and a great hot shower but felt a couple of things could do with improvement. The settee and some downstairs furnishings were past their best and stained so the cottage was not as clean and fresh as the pictures show. A few logs were left in the basket but not nearly enough for four nights in February. Luckily we brought some with us, along with other "essentials" after reading a previous review. The door lock was a bit tricky sometimes and we could have done with two keys as we could not lock the door if the other person went out. Despite staying in many places, our dog would not settle here for some reason. This meant walks during the night and why another key would have been handy. Obviously that is beyond the owners control but it was unusual and meant we returned home a day early.

  • "The stairs are wholly unsuitable for anyone with even the slightest physical disability."

This really needs to be highlighted. The empty cleaning spray bottle left in the kitchen and utter lack of anything that we’ve always found as “standard” (a pint of milk perhaps, kitchen roll any fuel at all for the wood burner,I could go on) was noticeable. The sofa is dreadful WAY past it’s best. The bathroom is lovely and the bed comfortable however

Couple of issues with the place which the owner has had to review with the cleaners. Loch was a bit tricky to the front door but the area was lovely

I stay here regularly and it is always clean and well presented. Whalley is a wonderful village with plenty of great eating places and amazing shopping for somewhere so small. Recommend the cottage and Whalley.

The owner was very helpful in helping us with a shower issue, which was us not realising how it worked! Everything was as described and facilities and equipment was as described and more than adequate.

Beautiful and comfortable. Great location. We arrived in the dark and would have appreciated a photo from the road side as we couldn’t find the cottage from the photo taken from the garden. We would happily stay again - ticked all the boxes. Thank you.

  • "We have just come back from four lovely nights at this gorgeous cottage."

There is nothing negative I can say, it was spotlessly clean, comfortable and have everything we needed. The added bonus was the fabulous neighbour Dorothy, she was lovely and kindly lent us a gate for the front door so we could keep it open without our dog escaping. The village of Whalley is lovely, great people, very dog friendly and beautiful. We will definitely return.

  • "An absolutely stunning find."

Placed close enough to the village center and supermarkets that its just a two minute walk away, but secluded enough that you're out the way of the noise. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean from top to bottom and all precautions had been taken to make sure there was no cross contamination from the previous visitors. With dog friendly places, there's always a worry of the rooms smelling "Doggy" however, every single room was clean and fresh and no odors or dog hairs. The couch and bed were amazingly comfortable and the log burner was a brilliant addition Any kitchen utensil you can think of is provided as well as spotlessly clean cutlery, glasses, plates and cups as well as washing up liquid, hand cleaner and even biscuits, sweets and a fresh pint of milk left in the fridge. The only thing i would note is that the stairs are steep. not a problem for us, however, an older couple may have problems getting up and down. will definitely be booking this again.

  • "Only one thing spoilt our holiday and that was the very steep stairs in the cottage."

For younger people it would.cause no problems but for near 80 years old with arthritis it caused problems. Perhaps a comment could be put on the cottage description to this end.We would not be able to return to that cottage which is a shame but for anyone else I would highly recommend it. In future we have decided to look for ground floor properties of which I know you have plenty.

A truly outstanding pad with such a prime location. Could quite easily live there and with such an excellent location, could have made the car obsolete with everything on your doorstep. First time I have used Sykes and would certainly recommend the overall service and especially the cottage. Will no doubt use both again. Many thanks

Pubs, Restaurants and Supermarkets are in 5 min. reachable. It would be nice if there would be an nhairdryer. The Staff-Person who should clean the Cottage was there and asked us when she should come. Her Name was Sharon. I think she was more interestet in speaking spanish, because she asked us About. When we came back after she cleaned, we couldn't see what she had done. Only the bed had new Sheets. I think that has to get better. But we had a brillant time in this Cottage. Maybe when we will return to this area, we will rent this Cottage once again.

! Loved it! As described on the pictures, had everything we needed and such a cosy romantic cottage to relax and unwind after visiting many of the local pubs and restaurants all within walking distance or going for a leisurely stroll around the village or visiting the abbey. Host was lovely and left a lovely box of chocolates & biscuits for us along with supply of tea & coffee. Bed was super comfy & towels were dreamy (you can always tell a lot about a place by the quality of the towels :-) Will definitely be looking to visit again.
