  • "We had a fantastic stay at Tarn End, the location is stunning and the property is beautiful and we'll equipped with everything you need."

I would highly recommend this property. The only criticism is that it would have been nice to have received a welcome pack, just some milk in the fridge and some biscuits would have been nice to receive after a long journey. Supermarkets are not that close.

  • "This is a truely blissful high quality property with walks and water foul on your door step."

We loved our time there and would not hesitate to book again if the price is competive. We would love to live there full time in our retirement. I cannot fault the property. All decorated for Xmas for us as well which is a great gesture. TV is great with all the channels and connectivity. I cannot suggest any improvement because its perfect as it is at this time of year.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and a perfect 100 score. We hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "A hidden gem at the North."

Our family had fantastic time staying at Tarn End. The location is truly amazing, just a few minutes off the A69 which could lead you to Carlisle, Hadrain’s Wall and Newcastle, it’s very easy to get to and parking even if you are a new driver. With the lake on the doorstep, we had never got bored of looking out windows seeing the beautiful nature around us and water activities that people were doing in the lake. We love the garden and we enjoyed walking around the lake, our 9 years old loves doing bugs catching, birds watching and even tree climbing. We feed the swans and ducks almost everyday. If you are not scared of dark, step outside of the house doing stargazing is super fun! The inside of the cottage just as beautiful as its’ surroundings. Love the highly specific designed interior, love the premium quality of the bedding and all of us had good sleeps throughout the holiday. If you are someone like my husband who cares about shower pressures at holiday, Tarn End would never disappoint you. Our family often cook during the holiday, we found almost everything we need in this well equipped kitchen.Good size fridge& freezer, all different sizes new nonstick pans , tools, microwave and a coffee machine. I have been surprised by the hot water tap, totally love using it. If I am allowed to make one minor suggestion, I would hope oven gloves could be included. I remembered reading other reviews mentioning about pulling curtains in the living room, we had no problem with that at all. Three doesn’t have signals here if you are inside but all other providers are fine. Wi-Fi in the cottage is working like at home, very well. Tarn End is a prefect holiday cottage to us, we felt so lucky to have found the place for our summer holiday. I indeed hope that we could stay longer next time.

Thank you for such a lovely review of our cottage and it sounds like you have all had a lovely holiday, the location really is fantastic for getting back to nature and to keep children entertained. We hope we can welcome you back again soon. David and Julia Property Owner

  • "High spec accommodation in a beautiful location."

Lovely to sit indoors and watch the tarn or on the patio. Benches in the communal gardens. High spec designer fixtures, fittings, utensils, soft furnishings etc. Plenty of crockery, cutlery etc. Spacious, tall ceilings. Private secure bike/equipment storage absolute dream. Easy access to Hadrian’s Wall, forts etc. by car or bicycle if fit! We cycled a lot using very quiet lanes and bridleways over fells. Locals very friendly and helpful about places to visit. Highly recommended

Thank you for such a lovely review and we are pleased your enjoyed your stay with us. We hope we can welcome you back again in the future. David and Julia Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous stay and will be highly recommending it to friends and family."

The layout of the cottage was very good and the beds comfortable with well-equipped En-Suite shower rooms, and the rest of the cottage was well equipped. The views of the Tarn Lake were spectacular in Autumn colours especially when the sun came out. Superbly situated in an area that is very quiet and peaceful. Recommendations for minor improvement: For night time arrivals, the key safe box was hard to see the numbers without the use of a torch. A request for the two single beds to be put together was not complied with which was disappointing. The fire was left with the flame effect disc out which took 3 days of our stay to find, insert and achieve the correct visual display and sound effect. The curtains in the lounge / kitchen area very high making them a little awkward to pull closed and open, could do with a pull pole on the end curtain ring for ease of use for that height and would alleviate any possibility of damage occurring. Maybe an instruction leaflet on operating the hob for those not familiar with electric hobs Minor point that could make ones stay slightly easier.

Thank you for the feedback and pleased you enjoyed your stay . We take your comments on board . However there is an instruction folder and we were on site every day for any help you may have required. Best wishes Property Owner

About the location

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
