  • "We had a great stay here."

The cottage is in a good position for exploring the wonderful waterfalls and caves of the Yorkshire Dales. With uninterrupted views of the Leeds Liverpool canal you can also sit and watch the narrow boats go by. There is a nice walk into vibrant Skipton along the tow path. The cottage is warm, cosy and well equipped. There are plenty of large pans and everything else you need to cater for 6. This cottage was a great find.

  • "This is a fabulous cottage with a great location and lovely views."

Close enough to walk to Skipton along the canal which is a nice walk with the dog up to Aire park. It’s warm and cosy and had a very well equipped kitchen. Beds were super comfortable and each bedroom had its own bathroom. I’d definitely re book if visiting the area again. A home from home. Thank you.

  • "A warm, inviting cottage with everything provided for a stress free stay."

The views are fantastic. The beds were comfortable with fresh clean bedding and en-suite bathrooms are a bonus. There was plenty of parking but the car is hardly needed as a short walk down the tow path leads straight into Skipton. A couple of small issues were sorted straight away by the on site owner.

We had a lovely holiday in this area and would very much recommend this cottage. The only item I never found in any of the rooms was an electric shaving socket for my toothbrush. Suggest bring an adaptor.

We travel regularly in the UK and are very particular about our requirements. Katy’s Cottage ticked every box. Good location for Skipton with a pleasant canal-side walk into town whilst enjoying excellent countryside vistas. The photos of the property do not do it justice. Would highly recommend.

There were lovely views of the surrounding countryside, and it was interesting to look down on the canal and the passing barges. The cottage is ideally positioned as it just is a very pleasant mile long walk along the towpath, a few hundred metres from the cottage, into the attractive town of Skipton with its market and wide array of shops, pubs and restaurants.

it’s a really great house, much bigger than the photos suggested and really warm and comfortable. it’s very well equipped and has a lovely outlook down to the canal and across the hills. There is a walled garden so the dog was secure. Jeanette our host was friendly and very helpful. it’s an excellent base to explore the Dales from. Keelham farm shop is nearby and has a very nice cafe and restaurant too. thanks for a lovely stay.

  • "Katy’s cottage was a real home from home."

It is in a lovely location, a 20 minute walk (average speed) to Skipton along the canal path, with fantastic views from the lounge and sun room. The cottage is like a Tardis with lots of room for everyone. Three lovely bedrooms all with en-suite. The third bedroom has 2’6 beds so not really ideal for larger adults but this was no issue for us. There is also plenty of parking outside the cottage. The canal runs in front of the cottage as does the road that carries local traffic into Skipton (about 60m away) but this does not cause any issues and we often sat with the patio doors open wide enjoying the views and the cows from the farm who often came up to the garden wall to say hello. I would love to return and have already recommended Katy’s cottage to friends.

The 3 en suite bathrooms a bonus and the house was so spacious. There was plenty of crockery and kitchenware so the dishwasher only went on once a day. One minor quibble that none of the glassware matched. We are looking to book for next year.

We were all delighted with the location and high standard of Katy’s Cottage. The views were super the hills, greenery and barges on the canal. The cottage itself was modern and lacked for nothing. We enjoyed the short walk to the canal path and the the 20 minute walk into Skipton. We were also able to walk to the station where it was easy to travel to different areas of Yorkshire by train. A great week and we hopefully will be able to visit again.

The location was great - very close to the Leeds Liverpool Canal and we enjoyed feeding Kitty the horse in the neighbouring field. We walked along the canal tow path to Skipton which is a lovely town - the tow path was a bit muddy which is to be expected this time of year. We also walked to Gargrave along the tow path in the other direction and had lunch in The Masons Arms - the steak and ale pie was delicious. Lots of things to do in this part of Yorkshire.

Niffany Farm Cottages

A group of four terraced cottages, located on a family-run working livestock farm on the outskirts of the ever-popular market town of Skipton. Nestled alongside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the owners' private moorings and small campsite, in an open paddock, these cottages provide a wonderful holiday base whether booked together or separately. Each boasts outstanding views across the sweeping surrounding countryside towards the beautiful moorlands above Elslack and the Broughton Hall Estate. The cottages have been designed with modernity in mind to offer contemporary, luxury living in an enviable location, out in the beautiful Dales countryside and yet only a short walk from the many attractions of Skipton. Many of the bedrooms have flat screen TVs and come with luxury en-suite facilities, while the living areas each offer a cosy woodburner or open fire. Outside are private gardens adjoining each cottage, along with a shared clubhouse. Niffany Farm is very much a living, working farm and so any younger guests will adore observing the animal activities and daily comings and goings, while there is a shared clubhouse for everyone to enjoy. Lovely canalside walks lead from the doorstep, taking you straight into Skipton centre where you’ll find a wide selection of restaurants, tea rooms and coffee shops, while the traditional market sells fresh local produce throughout the year. Booked individually or as a group to accommodate larger gatherings, these charming cottages are wonderfully-placed for your Dales getaway.

About the location

SKIPTON

Grassington 9 miles; Harrogate 20 miles.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
