  • "Generally an excellent and very comfortable cottage."

The only fault was the cold bathrooms, although it was minus 3 some nights. The towel rails aren't really adequate to keep the rooms warm in those temperatures which made using the showers a very quick exercise! Have to say that Mrs Marshall quickly altered the start times for the rails, which helped. With having two dogs, it would have been nice if they could have roamed the garden, unattended, but couldn't because it's not fenced off securely and a gate would be also be needed. Just an observation. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Beautiful location. Plenty of dog walks. Niffany Barn very well equipped with great showers. Skipton very dog friendly and most shops welcomed well behaved dogs on leads. There is even a dog friendly cafe called Kibble who treats the dogs first before their humans. Wonderful. It would have been really good if the garden had been enclosed, to stop dogs and small children escaping, with the canal so close by. It was still a fabulous holiday.

  • "There were many aspects of this barn that were delightful, such as the beautiful views."

It was lovely to have a big bed in the en-suite bedroom but for a four rated place we would have expected proper cotton bed linen, not poly cotton, and less lumpy pillows. The bathrooms have had a recent makeover, lovely big towels, although a heated towel rail is insufficient to heat them at this time of year. Although the immersion heater is on all the time, there is barely enough hot water for a bath, which drains the tank. The kitchen is relatively well equipped but the units and appliances es are very dated - reminds me of bottom end 1980s. It was lovely to have a fire made up to light but logs in bin outside were damp and didn’t light very well. Overall, in our opinion, more a three star than a four star stay.

  • "Just back from a lovely stay at Niffany Barn, with 3 friends from Bristol."

The cottage managed to be off the beaten track, whilst still being in walking distance from Skipton. We enjoyed taking the dogs out for gentle early morning walks along the canal towpath, and tben venturing further into the Dales after breakfast. The train station is only 20 minutes walk away along the tow path - we walked to Gargrave one day, and got the train back, and another day got the train to Dent and had a great walk in Dentdale. Kettlewell and Malham are less than a half hour journey by car, two more great walks, and we walked into Skipton centre and enjoyed the market and bustling canalside too. The cottage is clean, cosy, well equipped and has a sunny, sheltered back garden, backing onto a field, then the canal. We sat out for early evening drinks almost every night, and walked up the hill near the entrance to the farm, to watch the sunset. The living room is large and very comfortably furnished. The only slight downside is that there is no gate to the garden, so whilst it's private, it's not totally enclosed, which was a bit of a worry with the two dogs, but the dogs were very well behaved and didn't venture beyond the boundary off-lead. Would recommend Niffany Barn as a great place to stay.

  • "We had a very relaxing week at Niffany Barn."

The facilities and cleanliness can’t be faulted, and the location is amazing: right in the middle of the country, looking out to houseboats on the canal, but literally a couple of minutes into town by car. Our 5-year-old granddaughter particularly enjoyed having a walk along the canal path, talking to the swans, and she further enjoyed picking the 'best' eggs that are sold on-site by the owner's daughter. We would strongly recommend staying at this property as the house itself is great and it provides the perfect base for getting around Yoskshire.

Kitchen is upstairs via clean carpeted staircase so muddy dogs are not ideal. There is no gate and the garden is not secure therefore leaving outside is not an option either. Apart from this the place is fine, although if we came again we would choose Katy cottage. This one on the farm is much better both for views and reasons stated. Great owner and conveniently placed for all surrounding walks/entertainment.

So easy and friendly, and with such a professional and pleasant approach from the staff at Sykes. It gave us confidence when we booked the holiday with them. We had travelled from Spain with our Spanish friends, who had never visited the UK. Their experience of the booking and payment process was wonderful. Paying the deposit and final payment later is a great idea. The accommodation at Niffany Barn is fantastic, the owner Jeanette is so nice and she obviously works very hard to offer such a high standard of accommodation. Everything that you could possibly want is available at Niffany Barn, its so comfortable, and we felt at ease and relaxed, there really isn't anything that is missing. Thank You. The area around the Yorkshire Dales is beautiful. We couldn't have asked for more for our first visit to Yorkshire, and the first visit to the UK for our friends. Thank you to all who helped us have a wonderful holiday.

Niffany Farm Cottages

A group of four terraced cottages, located on a family-run working livestock farm on the outskirts of the ever-popular market town of Skipton. Nestled alongside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the owners' private moorings and small campsite, in an open paddock, these cottages provide a wonderful holiday base whether booked together or separately. Each boasts outstanding views across the sweeping surrounding countryside towards the beautiful moorlands above Elslack and the Broughton Hall Estate. The cottages have been designed with modernity in mind to offer contemporary, luxury living in an enviable location, out in the beautiful Dales countryside and yet only a short walk from the many attractions of Skipton. Many of the bedrooms have flat screen TVs and come with luxury en-suite facilities, while the living areas each offer a cosy woodburner or open fire. Outside are private gardens adjoining each cottage, along with a shared clubhouse. Niffany Farm is very much a living, working farm and so any younger guests will adore observing the animal activities and daily comings and goings, while there is a shared clubhouse for everyone to enjoy. Lovely canalside walks lead from the doorstep, taking you straight into Skipton centre where you’ll find a wide selection of restaurants, tea rooms and coffee shops, while the traditional market sells fresh local produce throughout the year. Booked individually or as a group to accommodate larger gatherings, these charming cottages are wonderfully-placed for your Dales getaway.
