  • "I chose Proven House because of the accessibility description, and was not disappointed, easily negotiating on walkin̈g sticks."

    I'm not a wheelchair user. A very well equipped house with very generous extras we have not experienced elsewhere. Milk ( our choice of variety), homemade cake, coffee etc, condiments, oil, foil etc. Plus a very cheery welcome. Highly recommended.

  • "Great holiday, perfect location for towns west coast and superb walking."

    The cottage is well equipped, comfy and spacious, there is so much information for cycling, walking and places of interest ect. Kathleen and Pat are great hosts with good knowledge of the local areas and to be on the farm in the lambing season was a bonus. Hope to return sometime and thank you for the yummy cake.

  • "Lovely clean and cosy cottage."

    Owners very friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated the extra touches, milk in fridge (even messaged to ask which milk we preferred) etc. The owners have considered everything you could need and provided it, information on local amenities, walking routes and maps, cycling routes, places of interest. The property is well situated not far from main road, yet in quiet rural setting.

  • "Spent a relaxing week at Proven House."

    The house was extremely well equipped and very cozy even though the weather outside was horrendous at times. Proven House was quiet and away from it all yet conveniently situated for a walk to pub and Italian restaurant. Shops and take aways are a plenty in nearby Longridge. Good location for exploring Ribble Valley and scenic walks. I would recommend Dunsop Bridge area. The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

  • "The property is snug and warm, and very comfortable."

    Kathleen and Pat have endeavoured to think of everything, and are excellent hosts. The one and only downside is that the allocated parking slot isn’t very easy to manoeuvre into, and tricky if you’ve got a large vehicle.

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful stay at House and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it."

    The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The holiday let was comfortable and well equipped, with everything we could possibly want and located in an excellent position between Preston and Longridge whilst being set back from the main road and consequently free of traffic noise. We particularly enjoyed the large terrace with its view across the fields with the animals grazing in the distance. We fully recommend it whether for just a few days, or for an extended stay such as ours.

LONGRIDGE

Longridge is a small town and civil parish in the borough of Ribble Valley in Lancashire. Situated 8 miles north-east of the city of Preston, at the western end of Longridge Fell, above the River Ribble. Longridge initially developed outwards from an area around St. Lawrence's Church, at the boundary of the townships of Dilworth and Alston and to the south of the modern-day town centre. Many of the buildings are built of locally quarried sandstone and despite modern developments; the town centre remains largely as it was when it was first established. The town holds a portfolio of gift shops, cafes, antiques and art studios together with a quaint cinema, plus numerous food outlets from takeaways to gastro pubs. Its nearest neighbours are Grimsargh and the Roman town of Ribchester, with its Roman museum and beautiful church of St Mary’s on the banks of the river Ribble. Clitheroe castle is only 20 minutes down the road. Here there is another wealth of interest, from the historic Browsholme Country Estate, host to regular Farmers Markets. To the southeast Longridge Field Day is a long-standing annual event that consists of a parade through the town, and various attractions on the town's recreational playing field. The Forest of Bowland (AONB) shows off an expanse of fells criss-crossed with dry stone walls and dotted with picturesque farms and villages. The hen harrier is the bird symbolised on the Forest of Bowland’s logo as it is their most important breeding ground in England. Beyond the Harrier there is a wealth of other wildlife to be spotted from Kingfishers to the Red Grouse. The rivers Ribble, Calder and Hodder converge near the prestigious Catholic Stonyhurst College, providing idyllic landscapes and walks, not least of which – The Tolkien Trail – lead to an abundance of pubs to quench the thirst afterwards. The area sports numerous agricultural shows, art exhibitions and day festivals of all sorts throughout the summer and is within reach of the Lancaster canal and city, Blackpool and the Lake District, so there is plenty to keep everyone occupied.
