Location: Pennington Near Ulverston

Ulverston 3 miles; Coniston 11 miles.

Pennington is a small hamlet with a scattering of dwellings, farms and country pubs, situated on the beautiful Lake District Peninsula, an area of tranquillity, gentle hills and unspoilt walking country. Locally, the start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths can be located, and the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn are renowned locally for their fine ales and good food. Pennington's nearby neighbour, Ulverston, is an ancient market town that still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today, the town is well known as a “festival town”, with events throughout the year, and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle.

Previous visitors' comments about Greenmoor Cottage:

It was just what we wanted and in a lovely location. The fact that our dog was allowed was a bonus and it was also a great touch to be contacted in advance by the owner, to give us directions and advice about the parking arrangements.
Mr Yardley, Birmingham, October 2011

It was a lovely cottage full of charm and character, beautifully kept and immaculately clean with good facilities and well equipped.
Mrs James, Eastbourne, July 2011

The cottage was the best holiday accommodation we have ever experienced, I cannot praise the owners highly enough. The area was perfect and we had a wonderful week.
Mr Morris, Shipston-on-Stour, July 2011
