"An Unforgettable Weekend"

Perfect setting. The description of the property and its surroundings did not do it justice. All the rooms were spacious and the views from the bedrooms were awesome. The farmhouse was perfect for our celebration weekend with friends. Plenty of room and to be able to walk to the beach from the garden was really special. Did have some difficulty lighting the log fire but managed in the end. It was the first time we had been to this part of England and cannot wait to return. Only one comment - for our party another double bed or two singles upstairs would have been better. Both single bedrooms had plenty of space for an additional bed.

Hilary, Tickhill, South Yorkshire, December 2009

Location: Aldingham

Ulverston 5 miles.

On the coast looking across to Morecambe Bay is the small village of Aldingham, said to have once been a mile long but, as legend says, many of the early cottages were washed away by storms and tidal waves. Aldingham had the reputation of being a smugglers’ village, with brandy from France and tobacco from America supposedly hidden in the church crypt. The village is close to the spectacular Furness Abbey, and the ancient market town of Ulverston is just 5 miles away, and still has an authentic feel and community spirit. The town boasts a street market every Thursday and Saturday and many festivals throughout the year, including an amazing lantern procession in November and a superb Dickensian weekend in early December. It is also the birthplace of Stan Laurel and home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park and the sandy beaches and good bird watching of the Furness Coast close by, this quiet and peaceful area has plenty to offer!
