Lake Windermere 12 miles; Coniston Lake 12 miles.

The ancient market town of Ulverston still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today it’s well known as a festival town with events throughout the year, including walking and art festivals in the summer months and the renowned Dickensian festival in late November. One of the town’s great claims to fame is as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, a cinema and a leisure centre. Whilst many Lakeland destinations have been developed beyond recognition, Ulverston still has an authentic feel and community spirit. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Lakes Windermere and Coniston and popular Birkrigg Common, with its incredible panoramic views across Morecambe Bay.

Great accommodation to use as a base for walking in the surrounding areas. Ulverston is a great market town with plenty of variety for food and drinks and all in 5 min walking distance from accommodation. Furthermore the landlady Eileen, gave my husband and I a lovely welcome. She was very helpful and friendly.
