Location: Pennington Near Ulverston

Ulverston 3 miles; Coniston 11 miles.

Pennington is a small hamlet with a scattering of dwellings, farms and country pubs, situated on the beautiful Lake District Peninsula, an area of tranquillity, gentle hills and unspoilt walking country. Locally, the start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths can be located, and the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn are renowned locally for their fine ales and good food. Pennington's nearby neighbour, Ulverston, is an ancient market town that still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today, the town is well known as a “festival town”, with events throughout the year, and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle.

Previous visitors' comments about Woodside Barn:

Lovely secluded and peaceful cottage with very helpful owners on site. Everything in the cottage was well maintained and although the week was very cold weather-wise, we were snug and warm.
Mrs Selfe, Louth, February 2013

The property is beautiful and the best so far! The owner made our break perfect and was more than helpful. Would definitely stay again!
Miss Kidia, London, January 2013

All our needs were catered for to a high standard. The cottage was very cosy and very tastefully decorated. We liked the location, secluded and peaceful. I particularly liked all the little knick knacks around the cottage, made it feel very homely.
Ms Ramsay, Paisley, November 2012

I would very firmly recommend this property. Everything was superb about the accommodation and help in our party having a wonderful stay.
